Hi ladies, this may seem like a strange question, but my mom and I had a conversation over this question. Yesterday, I misplaced my engagement ring (I found it--thank God!). I took it off to comb my hair and I usually take it off to lotion myself, etc. My mom says that I should never take it off. How many of you ladies take your rings off to do misc. things? How many keep your rings on no matter what?

I have had this same conversation plenty of times with my friends and family. When I first got the ring, I used to take it off every night (I don't really wear jewelry, so it was uncomfortable), but then I would forget to put it back on in the mornings.
Everyone would tell me not to take it off at all, so I have gotten better with it. Now, I only take it off when I'm doing something that might be messy, like putting lotion on, styling my hair, etc...
Now, I am going to stop taking it off at all because yesterday morning I took it off to put lotion on, then I forgot to put it back on, so I was without it all day yesterday. FH made it home before me, and flipped when he saw it laying on the bed.

My fiance flipped on me too, because I told him I had misplaced it. I didn't want him to notice it first. I was without my ring all day as well. I felt horrible. I found my ring when I arrived home last night. I will be very, very careful from now on.

If you are anything like me, GET INSURANCE. I have to get some this week. FH swears up and down I am going to lose my ring because I keep taking it off, so he told me to at least get insurance so if I do lose it, it can be replaced.
I really am trying to get in the habit of leaving it on because even though it could be replaced, I would hate to have to do that. I love my ring very, very much!
*If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything*
You are so right B2B! I don't ever want to have to replace this ring either. I love my ring, but I love the man that gave it to me even more and I don't want to hurt him.

I keep my ring on at ALL times. (I will not wear it when I do my perm because I don't wear gloves)
There was only 1 time that I took it off. I was sleep & my whole arm and hand fell asleep. So, I put it on my right hand and went back to sleep. When I woke up again, my right arm was now asleep. lol So, I put it on my pinky finger. I went to the bathroom and it slipped off. I said OMG if this ring had fell down the drain, I would've been so upset. So, I just put it on the nightstand until I was ready to leave. I forgot to put it back on! Next thing I know FH called my cell phone and went BALLISTIC! He wasn't trying to hear anything. lol I felt bad too! :-(
I felt bad all day long yesterday. I was just not myself. All I could think about is what if I don't find that ring. I prayed and asked God to guide me to the ring. I had put the ring in my nightshirt pocket (something I have never done before!). Girl I almost passed out, what if I had done laundry and lost my ring forever???? Thank God is all I could say.

This question is opened to the married ladies as well :-)

My fingers swell if I sleep with jewelry on...it's amazing this came up becuase there was a story on "My 9" (formally UPN) yesterday about a lady who had lost her engagement ring 20 years ago, sold her house and the new buyers found it after raking some leaves in the back yard and returned it to her...wow!

Wow, that was really nice of them! It's nice to know there are still good people in this world.

I don't wear my ring everyday. I knocked the stone out of my engagement ring, it turned up in a bag of skittles, but those few hous it was missing still has me shook.

I saw your ring honey and let me tell you...had you taken a bite out of that rock you would have been done for, that would definitely be the last bag of skittles you ate.

I had opened the bag just a little so it was a total shock when it fell out of the bag. I aged ten years that day, LOL!! Charley you are so right, I would have broken my teeth, busted my gums, and then some if I had chewed down on that.

You are too funny...but girl listen, even if you didn't look down, the glare for that rock would have send of philosophical signals that bounce right back to you...

Charly, I didn't know UPN came on over there too! I saw that same story last night. I was shocked too. I probably would've never thought to call the previous owners. I'm soo happy there are still good people out there.
Girl I wasn't looking at the candy, I didn't want to eat anything! My eldest son, Mark-Anthony, found it. He plopped down on my bead and poured the candies out (trying to get all the red ones) and out it came. He said 'boy if this is the prize in a bag of skittles, I should buy a box of them'.
Living my life like it's GOLDEN!!
I take my ring off when doing the dishes, and every night before I go to bed. I put is safely back in the ring box that it came in. I never forget to put it back on in the morning. It's habit now. The same way I remember my earrings.
I NEVER take them off! Now that I have the past, present and future I just got that blessed and moved the others onto my right hand. I even perm hair with them on. It stays close to my heart. I have a heart attack if I see hubby taking his off. He took it off because he got some thing under it and it was giving him a rash. I still freaked! lol

Bossy, I too take my ring off to wash dishes, clean, and when going to bed. I don't like to wear any jewelry when I'm sleeping. It's funny that this is a topic today because FH and I were leaving the house for lunch today and I realized that I didn't have either of my engagement rings on. I felt so naked without them. His mother tels me that I need to keep them on at all times unless I'm doing something messy. However, I was told by a jeweler that it's best to take them off when sleeping because the diamonds can loosen if they come in contact with sheets or blankets making it easy for them to fall out.

I take my ring off to shower, comb my hair, put on lotion, and if I'm walking down the street and to wash the dishes. My FH knows I take it off and doesnt have a problem with it because he know why.You really dont want your ring all cloged up with lotion and hair products do you? I also dont want to become an easy target when I walk about 1 1/2 miles to work everyday (after catching the bus). Since I walk alone I never wear flashy stuff to attract attention to myself.
I also have to get in the habit of leaving my ring on all day no matter what because I can be a little forgetful and leave it at work on the counter after I wash dishes or in my home bathroom.I even left my ring in the handle of the car door once.I'm lucky I didnt lose it that day because we were with family going back and forth to the store and it could have fallen out when you slam the car door......
I take my ring off as soon as I walk in the door and put it in the ring box. It goes back on in the morning. My FH will be relocating to NJ after the wedding. Once he's here I'll keep the ring on until I go to sleep. I know how much he loves the ring too.

Have any of you seen Paula Deens cooking show on the Food Network....she has herself a serious ring and when she is mixing ground beef or flour or anything messing - she never takes it off...that amazes me because I think of all the meat that can get caught in between the rocks....oh well, to each his own ah!

That's a shame. Now I know she knows her ring is filthy dirty after having it on and being outside and all. All of that dirt is mixing up in the food. Disgusting.

After misplacing my ring for a few hours and the horrible feeling that came with it. I will leave my on. I don't ever want to feel like that again.

There is usually an up close shot of the ring and you can see that it's cleaned often, not only that she washes her hands before, during and after cooking - watch her show and see what I mean.
