I was having a problem choosing a flower girl and ring bearer for my wedding. A while ago FH and I decided maybe we shouldnt have either because we didnt want to play favorites with the kids.We really dont care too much what the parents think but the kids are different..... FH has a favorite niece and everybody knows even the other kids. And since I work with 3 of his nephews it will be hard to ask 1 to be in the wedding and not the other 2 (not including all the othe nieces and nephews).
My question is this....what do you think about me using the kids as attendants too.Like they will all walk down the aisle like the bridesmaids and groomsmen in pairs. None of them will have an "official" ring bearer or flower girl title so they will all be equal. Now if I do that what would I call them?
There are 4 girls under the age of 7 and 5 boys under the age of 7 and 3 boys under 11.The older kids I'm not too worried about becasue they can understand a little more becasue they are almost teens and teens. They wont be too upset that they arent in the wedding.

There is no rule that says you can only have 1 of each....why don't you have them called Angels and Cheribs.....that way none of them feel hurt.....give all the little girls baskets with flowers and the little boys can carry bibles, and the ring pillow

Thats sounds like a good idea. If I do that then I have to do a little more saving for all the extra material I will need.
Charly, that's a good idea.
Allies, you can also make some of the boys Ushers & program distributors.
What material Allie??? don't the parents pay for everything the children need in the party?

I thought I had to buy the flower girls baskets and ring pillow? Is that wrong? I just want to know becasue I would like to keep them but if I use all of my nieces and nephews then I dont want to keep all the baskets and stuff.......
ASKALOT thars also a great idea. I wasnt going to use ushers but I could use them to make them feel special.....Then there would be nothing extra to buy for either me or the parents.
AllieS the prices you give the parents should be a total of everything the child will need.
Example - You tell parents $125.00 - total for package
That should include - outfit (dress or suit), shoes, hairstyle, flower baskets, stocking, jewelry etc etc,.....do you get the picture....
Give them 1 figure and just make sure everything is included so you will not have to go back to the parents for more money.

My cousin had the same problem for her wedding. What she did was make them "honorary bride and grooms". These little girl was dressed up in a miniature bridal dress and the little boy was dressed up in a minature tuxedo! They were oooh so adorable. Charly's idea was good too. If you are creative you can come up with anything. For instance, I created my daughter's role "Princess Bride'smaid" because my sister is my maid of honor and she's too old to be a "junior bride". Good luck in any event.

I've seen that before where the kids were dresses as mini B & G's but I don't like it because I don't want anyone in white other than me....I feel it steals some of the bride's thunder.

Charley thanks for the heads up.I really had no idea that the parents had to pay fot the accesories too.I will deffinatly be using that idea when I search around for dresses/tux and all the accessories too.
Now my new question is what is reasonable? That dress you showed me was like $145 I think. What are some of you ladies prices for the total package for your flower girls and ring bearers? I dont want anyone to not accept the position becasue the price is too high for them. I also have to keep in mind that all the nieces and nephews I am considering to use are like 3-4 kids per household so the parent will have to buy 3 of everything and that can be expensive.
Correction to the price. The dress that Charley found for me was $140. I will need 3-4 of them. and like 7 tuxedos. The tuxedos are rentals so they wouldnt be that expensive but remember there are like 3 or 4 kids per household in the age range I gave in the first post. I so love this Flower girl Dress I might just have to go back to my original plan......
Allies, perhaps you can have the parents contribute something, but not all. For instance, I bought the basket, pillows, rose petals, etc. The parents will only have to pay for their attire. I don't want my wedding to be a burden on anyone. Since you have several children from one household it is something to think about.

Girl it doesn't have to be that...you cna pick in dress and maybe have a seamstress add some red to them like this

This one is so pretty I wouldn't add anything to it other than the red basket and pretty red stuff in her hair

Or have the seamstress make a big red bow for this $49.00 dress

Cute dresses Charly. I really like the last two.

Those are cute too, and simular to some of the ones I have seen at local bridal shops. But GYRL its a far stretch from the one you found for me at first......I fell in love with that dress but I do have to think about other people finaces too. I will have to talk it over with FH to see what he thinks about the whole idea frst.If he wants to use every one then I have to come up with a plan and talk it over with the parents to see what they think.
They should really have them seam press before they display them but with the price one would really not mind. It is also a wonderful perfect price and AllieS shouldn't feel guilty about asking the parents.

Yes they should've steam pressed those bad boys! LOL!

I think the cherub idea would be so cute.
Living my life like it's GOLDEN!!
AllieS what you can do to still have that dress you like is to look for another little girl whose parents are afford to pay for that dress and still have your court of angels and cherubs...it's a win win situation.

Born Blessed!
Thanks ladies I will be checking out those sites this weekend I will let you know what I found OK! Charley unfortunately I dont really know many people with only one little girl. I am like the youngest of all my friends and all my other friends dont have kids or only have boys, eveybody has a minimum of 3 kids each. Both FH and my families are FULL OF BOYS! Lately my SIL's have been having girls but they will only be 1 1/2 at the time of the wedding.
Nothing is more precious than a baby in a wedding - when I got married in 1994, my nephew whom I loved deeply (first) was only 1 and I wanted him to be apart of it - I bought his entire outfit and he was to walk up with the little flower girls but him being so young when he reached a couple steps in the door he saw the alter with the flowers and the cross of Jesus so he broke of running up the isle pointing and make baby sounds- it was so precious, I didn't see it until the video and people were telling me he was so precious and adorable...he played no major role but I loved him so much his presence made a huge differnce....so I am saying to you that it does not matter how old they are, or if they have a role to play....

Hang in there girl and don't you let anyone, and I do mean anyone but you and your FH dictate what will and will not happen. You deserve to have the wedding of your dreams. It will all work out!

I agree with Rony....it will work out.

Im hanging from a string with his family but me and him are still as we usually are. Charley the babies I had in mind are his 2 nieces who were born June and July last year and My God Son Isaiah who is only about 5 months old. As far as my god son goes I would use him in my wedding and even pay for his wedding attire if I had to.Since he's a part of my family I know there would be no problems with using him for the wedding. The little girls would probably cry tho whole time if you put them down. They are so spoiled they probably would leave their mamas hips the whole day, like most days now.
