Ladies, as you can see y my ticker my time is winding down. My FH and I are very excited but we keep hitting little bumps here and there. One is with the bridal salon that are wedding party are getting their attire. I got a call today from the bridal salon and the owner told me that she placed the order for the girls dresses today but they would not be back until Sept. 29th. Ok, my wedding date is Oct. 7th! I have people in TX, TN, NC, FL, GA and Al who will need time to get their dresses and alterations(if need be) and that's not enough time. When I say this won't work, she tells me that I can do a rush to have them back by 8/10 but it will cost me $20 a dress. That means $200 because I have 10 BM's. I refuse to ask the girls to pay more and FH and I don't want to pay it. I really think that they are trying to make some more money off of us because I just ordered a dress from the same designer in May for my brother's wedding and they came back at the end of June. We will just see what happens but FH and I are so frustrated. He even called the bridal shop because I was so upset. That's my boo, he's so sweet! Anyway, just wanted to vent

Oh, PB&J that's terrible. Before I go on, when do you go to the shop to have the dresses ordered?
Gr8 Question! When did you go there to order the dresses. If you told them your wedding was October 7th and you went there back in May they should have placed that order after all money was in. How dare these people try to charge you an extra 20 bucks when it was their fault that they cut it so close to the wedding. I hate vendors I swear. Sometimes I wish I were super woman and could do it all: sew the dresses & tux, bake the cake, cook the food, decorate the reception, be the dj, the emcee, the photographer, grow the flowers myself, I wish I was every woman. I'd be doing it all because I HATE relying on people.

oh yeah and what kind of contract do you have with these people? Try that whole, "if you can't get them here then cancel my order and refund my money" routine and see where it gets you. Me, I'm too passive to do it but my aunt always has my back with the "can i get a credit" if something isn't the way it is supposed to be. we have walked away from restaurants with free food and gift certificates when she complains. I once didn't have to pay my phone bill for 3 months because she got us so much credit from the cell phone company - haha.

Yes when did you go to the shop? If you went a while ago, they should've ordered those dresses after all of the deposits were in. Shame on them. If they waited to order your dresses, then they should be responsible for the "rush order" fees. My prayers are that this situation will work out satisfactorily for you and your FH.

PB&J, the real question is when did they put down deposits? You could have went in March, but if no money wasn't paid until this month, then to assure delivery before your date a rush would be required. If you made all the deposits last month then they have some explaining to do. Depending on the vendor it takes anywhere between 4-12 weeks for a bridesmaid gown.

OMG, I am praying that my ladies do the right thing and get those payments into Niquey as well. This is just too much!

Well once you let them know about the rush charge they usually get on the ball.

Ok, I was told that if my girls ordered their dresses by August 1st, that they would be back in plenty of time for my wedding. Well me being the cautious person that i am, told my girls July 1st because I didn't want to run the risk of them coming back late or not having enough time for alterations. My BM's had placed their orders by July 1st but the bridal shop didn't order until this morning, yes 9 days later. What's really upsetting us is that they have changed ownership since FH and I first went back in January and it's now owned by a sistah. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind supporting my peeps but please do your business right. The original prices that we received back in Feb. for the GM's tuxedos has gone up like $35. Imagine how we felt when his guys were calling saying on the newsletter you all sent out it said I had to pay this but when I called they told me this. Well, FH and I have talked with the owner and she won't bend at all about the previous owners quotes. Everyday it's something extra and that's really frustrating. My FH bestman went to get fitted and pay today and he was told he had to pay $172 vs. the original 145.28. He called my FH and he was furious. After FH called back to tell her how he felt about it she said that she would go down to $159 for the guys. It is so bootleg and I must say it was alot better when it was white owned and operated. We definitely will not be referring anyone there.

Why can't people-especially our peeps-understand sometimes that customer loyalty is worth more than a few extra dollars? Don't they know that companies with the most money are rich because they have lots of customers who are loyal and come back....not a whole bunch of irritated ones who they squeezed for a few hundred bucks here and there in their attempt to make the biggest sale? Don't they realize that loyal customers who feel like they got a fair deal will send their friends and family and will keep coming back?......One day we will learn......Good luck PB with that....Remember who your source is....It'll work out!

did anyone ask this woman why she placed the order almost 2 weeks after receiving the deposit? How dare she! AND I understand that there is new ownership but were you aware that there would be an owner or price change at any time? AND is there any way to find some other place to get your gear from for less money and get your money back from this scheming woman.

PB&J,I sorry to hear about your situation.Keep praying and everything will work out. But,in the meantime, you may want to call the Better Business Bureau and report this "shady" salon.True, we want to support "Black business" but I hate when our people try to get over on us.
Born Blessed!
PB&J who is the gown designer? Do you have a contract? If not why don't you take your business elsewhere? If she is the new owner she has every right to change the prices. However, if you had a previous contract and she is ordering based on that contact there should be no extra charge.

Thank goodness we have a business owner here who know the wedding business well! Hopefully there is a contract...and maybe referring the new owner back to the contract will set it straight! Phenomonique, can the new owner decide not to uphold the contract? If not then PB&J definitely needs to either report to BBB and take her business and money elsewhere!

I'm with you FutureMsLee, shame on this woman. Customer loyalty goes a long way. She has mishandled your business from the get go! Shame on her.

Yes she can. And it's within her rights not to, but she'd have to refund every dollar if she does not. If she increases the price the contract is void.

Thank all of you ladies for your feedback and support! At this point my husband and I are just praying that everything will work out. Yes, we had a contract with the previous owner but she says that we were not given the correct info. We're afraid that if we make changes and try to go to another place that it will take longer.
