Ok, normally being under 25 is a good thing. I am turning 25 in approximately 5 months and some days. I am going on a trip to Chicago August 17 - 20th for my cousins August 19th wedding. I don't want to have to depend on anyone to get around and since it is my first time in Chicago I want to do so many things - the aquarium, see the broadway musical WICKED, drive past the south side (haha), and anything else I want to do without inconveniencing anyone - my cousin lives in Elgin like a 1/2 hour away from Chicago. So I've been looking online and calling around for quotes and everyone I talk to wants to charge me $25 extra dollars per day to get around. I don't want to pay $200+ for 3 days of riding around, thats almost as much as my MONTHLY car note. They should establish like a yearly thing like those born in 1981 are exempt from that rule and next year change it to '82. I'm being penalized for being born late in the year! IMO these car rental people can go to hell. Grrrr & *kick* stupid rental car people! Just wanted to vent. Thank you all for reading.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way. ~ Pablo Neruda
Girl I feel ya on that one! I just moved to New Jersey a few months ago and I want to get a car. I am a little hesitant because I feel so intimitadated by those New Jersey Drivers! OMG! I don't mean to stero type people but NJ has the craziest drivers in the world! I know this is completely unrelated to your original post, but i admire the fact that you are willing to drive in another state with no qualms.

MsLee, I understand what you mean. What rental car places have you checked with. I say do some searching around for better deals. I had to go through the same thing before. I'm going to see if I can come up with better luck.
Rhony, girl, you must've lost your mind. lol I guess I got offended because I'm one of those crazy drivers. But listen, this is my thoughts: IF YOU CAN DRIVE IN NYC, then you can drive ANYWHERE. LOL The thing about it is, 1) there are actual lanes in NJ so people that's used to NYC driving feels lost over here. :-) 2)Jerseyans do seem to have a lot less manners on the road (same as NY though) - meaning you have to make your way into another lane because no one is going to let you in (unless you get lucky). lol
Just thought I'd add a touch of humor on this.

I didn't mean to offend you are any other Jerseyans. Thanks for the tip though, you are right if you can drive in NY, then you can drive anywhere. I guess I just have got to get used to the Jersey way of doing things. I gotta get that car, I so miss my independence! I appreciate the humor, thanks.

omg! too funny! this sounds like driving in CA. If you can actually DRIVE since you're stopping every 15 seconds because there are too many people on the road. I drove home from work for 30 miles doing 0-5 mph once because the traffic on the freeway is ridiculous. One a traffic free day it would have taken me about 45 minutes to get to work, but when these people come out girls i tell you they come OUT! I have been on the road plenty of times over 2 hours just trying to go 40 miles away. It is pitiful!
About the Car rentals, I have called thrifty, avis, hertz, enterprise, dollar, & one other one that i can't remember. My plane comes into Midway Airport but leaves out of O'hare so I need a one way rental.
You ladies are the best ever!

Lordy being on the road in Cali has NJ beat, because at least we can make progress!

Being from Jersey I must admit I am one of those crazy drivers. Not because I want to be, but I have to be to keep up. People will run you off of road. I was 25 once and I remember how hard it was to rent a car. But before you know it, you will wish you were under 25. Enjoy this age with all its set-backs and limitaions.
Happiness is only a prayer away!
Well said oxyx!
In a short while, I will probably be "one of those crazy drivers", just like Onyx said not because I want to, but in order to keep up. LOL!!!
