IS ANYONE DOING WELCOME BASKETS?

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way. ~ Pablo Neruda

Re: WELCOME BASKETS

I am not sure what you mean by welcome baskets. I am having baskets made for my programs and bubbles to be held at the doors by my hostesses to pass them out before the ceremony. One will be made if I decide on the CD as favor and it will be placed on table ,I am thinking just before or right in side the door at the reception. Is this what you are referring to?

Baskets for your out of town guest. It would be a classy gesture.

Re: WELCOME BASKETS

Sheawiil I never thought of having someone holding baskets with the programs and bubbles. I just may have to do that myself. This way I can keep my "flowegirls" baskets since I was told that the parents have to pay for the girls baskets.I can just get them to match the ones the little girls will carry.

Nique and Ms.Lee thats also a good idea but I probably ont have to do it.Half of my family if out of town (Texas) and I really doubt they come to the wedding. They say they are but they have big families per house hold and I doubt all of them make it if any. I'm really not expecting to see them but I will still be sending invitations to them.Maybe if they do make te trip then I will make baskets for them I love doing that type.Any reason to buy more baskets is a good one.

You ladies are great with creativity. Keep the ideas coming. I just may have to use the basket thing to have my hostesses put the programs in to pass out to guests! Excellent idea. Not really sure what a welcome basket is though.

Re: WELCOME BASKETS

I had planned to do welcome baskets and have the hotel staff put them in each guest room. However, I reserved 20 rooms and only 1 got booked (and she ended up not even showing up). Most out of towners ended up staying with family. But what I was going to do was put a personal note from hubby and I, a tea bag packet, a coffee packet, cocoa packet, ab bottle of wine (cheap bottle) and area attraction info. Just something to show our appreciation. I ended up not having to do it anyway.

Thats sad. Where in TX are they from? I have family in Plano & San Antonio. When we drove to San Antonio it took us 12 hours str8 shot. They can all rent a big truck (like we did) and roll. If your brother doesn't show up he and I will be fighting! Texas aint that far away. Just a straight shot on the 60 til it turns into the 10 and keep going. The 10 in CA is the same 10 in TX.

Re: WELCOME BASKETS

Yes I will be inviting them I will send all of the personal invitations.FML as far as my broter goes He can fly or get on the Greyhound to come out here, even if I have to buy the ticket. If he's not there I will be highly upset! That is the only sibling I have and he better show up at my wedding or WE will fight.I will have to go down there after my honeymoon and kick his acrobatics!

As for the rest of my family they are spread out all over Texas from Fort Worth to Dallas to Houston to Ennis to Ferris and many more places I may have forgot.I'm not really expecting them to sho because like I said they have big families. My Favorite aunt has 7 kids at home and traveling with them can be HELL! Plus its in March and school is in and I think it would be a hassel. My uncles have no reason not to show but I doubt they will.I have 2 there and they only have work obligations as far as I know. One is an engineer and travels everywhere and the other is in Arlington. I have another aunt who just got married herself and she and her kids told me they were saving to come. She has all grown kids so it's up to them to stay or come.I would really love it if all of them came but like I said if they dont I will understand and I wont get mad.

Re: WELCOME BASKETS

The bubbles are what we are using instead of rice or bird seed as we leave the church. This way their less to clean up. They also will serve as one of our favors. I got them for the low,low their was this wediing shop going out of business. I got the chapel/ church bubbles a box 24 for like I think 4.00. You can also go to the dolloar tree ands the have them a pack of six for a dollar. Get you a couple of yards of net(tulle) and ribbons from the fabric store. Type up little quote and tie it to them and bam you have a very enxpesive but thoughtful favor.

The church I am getting married in does not want rice thrown in the sanctuary. I will not be doing anything. A good old fashioned hand clap will suffice.

I think welcome baskets are nice and your guests will know that you really appreciate that they traveled for our special day!

Re: WELCOME BASKETS

We're doing welcome gift bags for the out of town guests. They'll be waiting on them at the hotel. Haven't put them together yet, but they'll include bottled water, snacks (chips, popcorn), sewing kit, post card (so they can have a picture of the city), directions to the church and reception, and info on area attractions.

Re: WELCOME BASKETS

Hey ladies,
Don't forget about the kids when making the welcome baskets. Maybe crayons and coloring books, some old maid playing cards, word finds, etc. You can find these and fun kid friendly things like them at a dollar store.
