Bridal Party Question

Hello all,

We are going to Jamacia to get married. I don't know if I should ask anyone to be in my Bridal Party because I don't want them to say they will be in it and then can't pay for the trip and change their mind. My FH's best friend is going to be his best man, but I don't know who to ask to be may MOH. I was thinking I would wait to see who starts the payment plan with the travel agent and then ask someone.

Re: Bridal Party Question

I would get my details to my best friend with the cost to Jamica in advance and if she can do let her be your MOH, or another close friend or relative. Good Luck.

I can do all things through christ which strengthens me.

Re: Bridal Party Question

Thanks Tajmom & Janice! We are getting married February 20, 2009. My best friend did say she was going to be there snow, rain or shine. But I don't know if everyone is just so excited about the news so everyone is gunho about going. My oldest sister said she is coming no matter what too. Do you think it is to early to ask them? Should I wait until we send out the save the dates (which will be by the end of the month)? I would like them both to stand up for me. Actually I have 2 other sisters I want to ask too. Will that be too many people? (It would be 4) Again thank you for the input! :)

Re: Bridal Party Question

Welcome to the Boards DW....In the end, it will end up being whoever decides to pay....you can ask if anyone is willing to pay to go along, but if they don't want to its okay because you know its an expense.......As you get closer to the date, and the trip gets closer to being paid off you'll know better who to let play what role....in the meantime, always be forthcoming with your situation, but let people bow out gracefully with no qualms, and (they can also be a great help for the parties and other needs (engagement/showers/help with registries and bridal gown picking) in the meantime....all your family may not even be coming so, you have time to get a feel for things.....Happy Planning!

Re: Bridal Party Question

Hey there DWBride, the good thing is you have time on your side. If you ask anyone to be in your bridal party, they have enough time to save for the trip. Besides I believe that people will support you, go ahead and ask, you will be surprised. Good luck.

I would start putting the bug in people's ear. And then just act like a fly on the wall to help you make your decision.

Re: Bridal Party Question

Bumblebee, Rhonda & Ieasha, I think I am going to take everyone's advice. First I will put a bug in their ear and see if anyone wants to help with the parties. Next I will see who pays off close to all of the trip and ask her/them to be in my wedding party. Thank you all for giving such great advice.

Re: Bridal Party Question

Thanks TAJ for the great advice! I called the travel agent today (after reading your post at work and not being able to reply) and told her we are sending out our save the dates and to look forward to calls with questions by next month. Thank so much because I didn't even think about group booking! (P.S. I don't think that was obsessive at all!) ;)

Re: Bridal Party Question

I agree bumblebee. Because we are having a destination wedding and it is so far in advance I agree that we need to be on point! Everything needs to be in order so it runs as smoothly as possible. Thanks again ladies for being so wonderful!
