Hi Ladies! As I mentioned early in the week I am sending out invitations this week because I have to have a guarantee count in to the catering company at the reception site by Sept. 7th. My question (for those who have already gone through with this or who might have knowledge of this) is how many invitations did you send out and how many people actually showed up to the reception. I know that I will get a clearer picture of how many people once the RSVP's begin rolling in but I am so concerned about this. I am sending out 200 invitations and right now my tentative contract for caterer says 300. Please let me know your experiences. I know they say 30% of those invited may not show up but there's still achance that they will. I've seen it happen so many times.

I feel you. My family and friends are in Ohio and I live in Atlanta. What I decided to do is send out the initial RSVP, then for those that haven't responded, send a second RSVP. And say something like, "Please be advised that any replies after...... will not be accepted." Or get on the phone and make some calls to those who haven't replied. Just ask if they received their invitation and are they planning to attend. Hope this helps.
Well said Leanne.

PB&J...my reception venue had a 150 person minimum. We had 210 people on our guest list and sent out 150 invitations. 2 weeks before my wedding, we had still not heard from approximately 20 guests. My father and MIL did some calling around to help knock that number down to about 10. We decided to not include the remaining 10 in the count. Then about 3-5 days before the wedding, 5 people that responded yes called and said they weren't coming. At the reception, about 10-12 guests didn't show, but about 5-7 showed that didnt respond. From my experience and other stories that I've heard I would count the number of positive responses you get, deduct 10 from that and be done with it. It will end up balancing out. You will never get an exact count.

Thanks Bossie! My Mom told me to send out the 200 and plan for 200 to attend. I pray that this works.
