BAD FATHERS

sorry, to hear about your dad acting sorry!I have a similar case my dad stayed a street over from where i grew up and use to drive by me like i didnt exsist! I battled with the thought of not being raised by my dad and my other sisters had the same dad who was active in there life, for years the feeling of not having a dad around hurted something terrible.But, look at me now God has blessed me with 2 buisness i stay in a house in the suburbs and hes doing dirt ball baddddd!Im saying this to say that hell get what is coming to him.You keep your head up and watch God turn it around for you.LOL

Wow! Don't sweat that! It sounds like your father hasn't been that supportive or involved anyway. I have a very uninvolved biofather too and I would not have dreamed of asking him to give me away because he doesn't deserve that privilege.I sent him an invitation and it had me as the daughter of my stepfather not him. My stepfather and grandfather will be giving me away because they were my father figures. Like soon2brdie said, he will get his. God is going to bring this all back to him in a very special way. Your uncle stepped up and that's all that matters. God bless!

Sorry to hear about what your going through! When I decided to announce I was getting married I was worried about how my father was going to take it( since he fault's my fh for getting me pregnant when I was a teenager)I think my father built a wall between my fh and himself and he never really said more then two words to him. I called my father and got his voice mail, so I left a message telling him I was getting married and to call me. I told my mother that if my father felt that he couldnt handle the fact that I was getting married that he should just stay home. Because I do not want to be upset on my wedding day.Of course my mother passed the message on. My father called me later that night and told me that he had no right to choose who I should love and that he wouldn't miss my wedding for the world.

Threjolyn, he is a SORRY excuse for a man/father. I say this, don't say anything else to him about it. Have your loving uncle walk you down the aisle. If he had to think about walking you down the aisle - think about if you even want him there PERIOD!

Having someone other than you father walk you down the aisle is quite common. My father didn't raise me at all. While we are more like friends instead of father/daughter, I am having my oldest brother walk me down the aisle and I'm not concerned that if may or may not hurt my father's feelings. He did not earn the right to walk me down the aisle.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Mine is not as bad, however it adds to my list of worst fears. My uncle is going to walk me out into the yard to my dad,(ceremony held in the backyard of a historic mansion museum) and my dad will walk me to my fiance. Anyway, I am praying that my dad and uncle won't be drunk before then. They are those men that gets drunk and thinks he's a comedian. Or want to cuss everybody out. Whichever, mood he's in at that time. So keep me in your prayers as well sistahs.

I am not even going to ask my father to give me away. In fact, I have not even told him that I am getting married. I am sure that he would want to be there pretending like everything is cool but he has not right to be. If he acts right I may invite him. I asked a few other men to give me away but they felt that I should make sure that my father is okay with it. Forget that. I am either going to walk alone or have my sister give me away. I will never understand why women ask their loser dads to give them away. I, however, will not be one of them.

Asking your sister to give you away is an awesome way to include your sister in the wedding. It is your wedding, have it your way girl!

Been there, done that-with my first wedding!!! Fortunatally my father realized that he was being a big jerk and apoligized after he saw that life goes on without him, and that I was very happy and didn't hold a grudge towards him. He just realized that I was more mature than him.

Do you guys think that it is mean to invite my dad although under no circumstances is he giving me away. We are not speaking at all now but if he acts like he has some since in the future, I was considering inviting him. He will be aware, however, that he is NOT giving me away.

Sure I think you should invite him. It is up to him to come. If you guys haven't had a close relationship, then I don't think he would expect to give you away. Hopefully you guys will be able to work out your differences before the wedding.

As I stated on yesterday, I invited my biofather because I felt that was the appropriate thing to do. he knows that he doesn't deserve to give me away. So like Rhony, I too think you should invite him.

Although my advice to you is be the bigger person and invite your father, however if the shoe was on the other foot I dont really know how I would handle it.

We are the only one who knows our situation so do what you feel is comfortable for you.

I AGREE W/THE OTHER LADIES. MY UNCLE WALKED ME DOWN THE 1ST TIME AROUND SINCE HE WAS MY FATHER FIGURE. MY DAD DID NOT EARN THE RIGHT. I WLD INVITE HIM THOUGH. LET IT BE HIS CHOICE. THERE WERE PEOPLE WHO WERE UPSET BY MY DECISION BUT OHHH WELL! THIS TIME AROUND MY OLDEST BIOLOGICAL SON WILL GIVE ME AWAY. AND OUR OLDEST SON WAS A LITTLE UPSET BUT WE EXPLAINED TO HIM HIS DAD WANTED HIM BY HIS SIDE AND HE COULD NOT DO BOTH THAT MADE IT BETTER.

I mean he was around but he is very critical and does not keep his word so I have chosen to separate from him. I will see how it plays out. He usually hangs the phone up on me when I call though. He was livid that I did not invite him to my college graduation. He said it was the meanest thing a child could do. Whatever.

I did that at graduation and I had a wonderful day and my family and I lunched without him!
