Dress Storage

My wedding is in May 2008. For financial reasons I want to buy my dress early cuz I saw the one I want. How much is it to store it for a year and a half? I do not want my dress to be discontinued.

Re: Dress Storage

Would the store keep it for a fee? I am going with David's bridal. I know it would turn terrible colors in my basement. I am meeting with my planner next month.

I have no idea. I am just afraid that they will discontinue it and I want it now. I will sort things out when I sit down with my planner in November.

Re: Dress Storage

I know but I like my stuff to be simple. I am trying to lose 10 pounds before I try on dresses. I have been with my trainer for almost a month. Weigh in is next week. Wish me luck.

Re: Dress Storage

After her wedding (1990), my mother had her dress cleaned and put in a heirloom box from a dry cleaner for preservation. You want to check into something like this. I do know that if you break the seal on the box its no longer useful. Hope this helps.

Re: Dress Storage

Thank you. I am just stuck on this dress. It is so pretty. I wish I knew how to cut and paste here so that you ladies could see it.

Maybe in another bedroom closet. I've heard its not bad luck for him to see the dress. Just you in it. However, I feel you. I don't want fh peaking at mine either.

Re: Dress Storage

Ladies I brought my dress in May of 2005 and the wedding is in July of 2007. I bought a garment bag from David's where I bought the dress and to date it is fine. I know there as long as you register the dress, they will clean it for you no matter how long b4 the wedding you buy it. It is only bad luck for him to see you in the dress b4 the wedding though I understand simce I did nt want fh to see mine. And yes ladies, NOSEY peeked at the dress!!!! He SAYS it was bcuz he is ordering his suit and wanted to make sure my dress was Ivory and nt white I say he lied and it was killing him since he really wanted to pick out my gown. Remember ladies, this is his wedding nt mine.

Re: Dress Storage

my fh and I had a discussion and he asked me what the wedding colors was going to be. I told him what the colors was going to be and somehow I mentioned the color of my dress, he told me that I am suppose to wear white. I told him that I did not want to wear white and that I was no longer a virgin ( remember they say virgins are suppose to wear white). Althought I am only 27, I have two children and do not want to wear white. I am trying to make my wedding traditional yet diffrent. I am trying to gather as many diffrent ideas as I can.

Re: Dress Storage

It is on the David's Bridal website. I have it in my favorites. I am afraid it will not look nice on me but I am determined to try dresses on in November. I have been with my trainer for 4 weeks!
