Hi Ladies, I need some input from you all in regards to decor. My Mom and I just got off of the phone debating whether the church should be decorated before the rehearsal or after(during rehearsal dinner). She feels that it should be a "wow experience" for me so I shouldn't see the church decor until the doors open for me to walk down the aisle. My decorator/planner/reception coordinator is also a friend and I would love for her to be able to attend the rehearsal dinner and not miss out because she's working. I trust her and know she will do a superb job so I really don't care to see it. She actually wanted to do it before the rehearsal but the church personnel and my ceremony coordinator says they would prefer after the rehearsal. So please let me know what you all think. Did any of you who've married already see your decor before or did it even matter.

I think it would be wonderful for you to be surprised. I have two co-workers who have volunteered to decorate the church and reception site for me. I will be totally surprised when I see it. What comes to mind is the show "Whose wedding is it anyway?". The bride is usually surprised on that show.

We decorated the night before the wedding. That way we did not have tyo rush to do anything. My wedding started at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. It all depends on what you want it is your day. We had the reherasal dinner early that say because the men went out for the bachelor party and the women stayed and had a ball deccorating the all

I would say decorate after. But, if you're a control freak like me, I would want to see it before the ceremony. lol But, I'd say definately do it afterwards.
Yay, I'm not the only control freak! It's hard enough for me to let someone else do the decorating, i don't think i could handle not seeing the final result before my big day.
That is nice your mother wants you to be surprised. If you trust your friends and families style let them surprise you. Less work you have to do. I myself am the type of person who likes to stay on top of things, so leaving it up to my family and friends will be vertually impossible.

For my friends wedding last year we decorated the church the day before but while decorating her mum and aunt begged me to carry her away, not that she was a hindrance but because they thought that at that time she should be sitting dowm with her feet up.She didn't see the reception before because it was being decorated while we were at the rehersal dinner. She did sneak away during the night to have a peak but it wasn't finish yet.For me she and her mum are doing the garden and reception hall for me.It is a surprise.I trust they judgement and I told them I don't mind what they do as long as it looks good.I told them I would like it to have candle light and be romantic, but if that can't happen I am ok with that because that is their gift to me.I have heard (slip of the tongue) about bubble machines and candlabras so it songs exciting. They are both wedding and event planners so I am not worried in the least.
I would like to see the decor too. I am in the process of looking for a person/florist who would be able to do it for me that I can get comfortable with so I will be surprised. If I find that I cannot trust anyone completely, I will oversee it myself. I will update you guys later.

I don't have a decorating bone in my body so I am staying clear.

Me too...I would rather do the decorations after the rehersal, while i'm there, to ensure that it turns how I wanted it to. Be surprised, as I walk down the aisle? No thanks, the wedding is enough of a 'wow factor' to handle.
I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

I was thinking of decorating after the rehersal. After everone know's what they are supposed to be doing they can help me decorate. And that way we can have our dinner there.I dont really want a formal style dinner becasue I know everyone will be tired and just gettign off of work.I would love the "WOW" moment but I am kinda scared of what it would look like if I'm not there....
I understand the "wow-factor". But "wow" could mean, "wow this sucks!"
