Re: Breast Implants

I only know one black girl that had a boob job. Hers looked fake to me because she was PAPER-thin all her life & now she has DD's & a ghetto booty (she got her butt done too). My only recommendation is get them in a size that compliments your body. It's like hair weave...it's suppose to LOOK real.

I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

I only know 1, hers look real, and she said she used the saline one & they put it behind the muscle. It's suppose to be the best kind to get, that's all I know. I had wanted them, but changed my mind.

Your not scared to get breast implants? I have always been a bcup, and thought about uping it to a c cup, but after hearing storys about how this leak, and how sometime the implants dont agree with your body and you get sick and have to get them removed. I quickly changed my mind.

Re: Breast Implants

Make sure your surgeon has worked successfully with black clients before and ask to see pic!

Find out if your skin will keloid. No one wants to see raised scar tissue.

Your future hubby may like them small. Some guys actually DO NOT LIKE big boobs! I am a DD. Been c - d cup even when I wore a size 4! But I had a boyfriend who liked thrm small and perky.

get TESTERS! Ask your surgeon to test drive the size you want and see how it feels to have them. (it can be embarrassing. You can't wear certain clothes without looking slutty. I hate that AND there is the back pain. Mercy!)

Re: Breast Implants

Definitely do the saline implants that go BEHIND the muscle...
Don't go with the cheapest.
Don't be afraid to leave your state to go to a very reputable surgeon such as NY or CA.
Make sure this surgeon is Board Certified in PLASTIC SURGERY, has a GREAT relationship with the local hospital, and has spent more than just taking correspondence classess learning plastic surgery. Make sure they have done a post-MD schooling at a reputable insitution for Plastic Surgery.....
Tell the Dr. if you have keloid skin and demand pictures, and a consultation!

I feel sorry for my man b/c he does not want me to have it done. He sulks and whines when I mention it and he says that he is not going with me to the surgeon. He says I have a self-image problem. Any way thanks for the advice. I have a black doctor in mind that I have heard nice things about. I planning to try the Brava bra system first, if that does not work I will get the surgery.

I am into what makes me happy although I do feel bad for him. I got braces b/c I had tiny space between my top teeth and I wanted them perfectly straight. I really feel sorry for him but he needs to come with me to support me and help me pick a size. right?

I understand what she said about not worrying about having bigger boobs, but I am also a big beleiver is doing what's right for you. Its so much deeper than self-image....I think he needs to support her. Its not fair for us to stand by our man through thick and thin and they can't stand by us for the few things we ask of them. Yes surgery is a big deal...but he needs to focus on what makes her happy. Also, his support will make the ordeal a lot less stressful, and will improve her healing time.....In any event, please seek the counsel of God first (if you have not already...but I bet you have!)

Re: Breast Implants

mycenae1918 why do you keep saying you feel sorry for your fh? Apparently you are perfect to him and dont need any improvement. It seems as if you have low self esteem. And trust me honey nothing you can do on the outside will help get rid of that. Perhaps it would be a good idea to talk to a professional who specializes in that.

House, as a professional who does specialize in "that", if you feel like someone has low self-esteem it doesn't make them feel better to tell them so. I think we should support mycenae in being happy with her outside and her inside and we can give feedback on her decision without judging her choice. Personally i wouldn't do it but she didn't ask if i would do it, she asked if we knew anyone who had. The first thing i ever learned as a therapist is once you take a stance on an issue in someone else's life, you give them no choice but to take the opposite stance (whether they want to or not). I'm all for tough love but damn!

Dont you see it's not just her breast, She just stated that her teeth had gaps and she keeps saying that she feels sorry for her fh. When her teeth gets straight, and her breats gets bigger she is going to find something else that's wrong and try to fix it. ALL I AM SAYING IS HONEY YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL JUST THE WAY GOD MADE YOU. That's whats wrong now no one is telling her she needs to talk to someone except her fh. Its not the he is not supportive its that he is worried about her and he see's she probably has low self esteem. That is the problem with people they tip-toe around certains issues, not wanting to hurt peoples feelings. Sometimes people need reality checks. If someone notice something wrong with me I would want them, no I would expect them to pull my coat tail. Not sugar coat it.

Re: Breast Implants

Based on what Musikana, Askalot, and House are saying, you can see that we all like to be talked to in different ways. I am so glad we can all share our opinions without being nasty! Thats why I love and respect ya'll so much. I like people to be upfront with me as long as they are not so blunt and blase about it...But thats Bumblebee, not everyone else. If we have accomplished anything here, we are all contributing some important information and a wide variety of ways to see mycenae's situation.

Now that I think if it, mycenae, make sure you understand what the girls here are saying. Its so important that when you have such a drastic change, you should definitely go into it (like marriage) as a whole woman. If you believe your FH is a blessing to you, but you are not a blessing to him also, then its something you should think about and evaluate. The truth is, if you don't like you as is, you won't like yourself that much more with any surgical alterations.....Its been researched and found to be true....
However, We are all so different, which makes us all so beautiful:) Its nothing wrong with make a few improvements here and there...even if it is drastic...It makes perfect sense to me that a person can love their body as it is, but still want to improve it....I love my rolls but hey I'm working for the six pack. I love my big butt, but hey, it can use some squats now and then! I call it "prevention" Prevention from sagging in a few years! (Gotta be able to laugh at yourself too) Its like having an A- but you still shoot for the A! You decide.

It is just that the internet has so little on breast implants in black women. The only black women I know of with them are stars. Any way, thanks for the suggestion about the placement (behind the muscle). My trainer and I were concerned about developing too much muscle in that area.

That's a valid concern-about your pectoralis muscles. I wish I could recommend some doctors to you but I can't....Maybe you should check for some support groups of women (in general) who have gotten breast work done. I bet there are some message boards just like this one for women. You may find some minorities there! Best of luck and keep us posted.

My first step is to order the Brava System. It is 1, 000 dollars. It is supposed to cause breast growth with no surgery. YOu have to wear it for 10 hours. I am getting that soon. If that does not work, I will call a surgeon. Thanks BumblebeeKee.

I'm new to this forum, and only found your post by doing a google search on brava and african americans. I'm black and 23 years old and recently went all out and purchased a kit with two sets of domes. I have been using the brava breast enhancement system for 5 weeks. Read the comments on the Brava support message board.

forum on Brava System

I want to share with you my experience:

Although I am not in the post week sessions to tell if there is any growth, it's still a horrible ugly expensive hassle. I doubt I will get any growth. I thank God that right now I don't have a job and I only go to school at night because with the domes, I can't sleep at night at all. I sleep during the day and stay up all night until 8 am in the morning when it is time to take them off. You can't sleep on your side or stomach and most movements that stretch your skin cause you to loose suction. So I stuff my bed with pillows - under my back, my knees, my arms...ANYTHING to keep still and have suction. I wake up with huge red marks around my chest that sometimes turn into rash, pimples, and probably permanent scarring. The suction from the domes creates itchiness and redness. It is very uncomfortable and unless you don't give a flub like me, you won't be going out when you were them or having sex. Walking causes me to lose suction, so I had to learn how to walk with them and put a sweater on over them in order to go out in public...even then..people stared at me when they heard a noise coming from my enormous "boobs" (which was the smart box trying to get more suction). Sex is almost impossible so I had to say good-bye to night time sex. Every movement during sex breaks the suction. I start my job in two weeks, which is below the amount of weeks for results. OH WELL. This thing is H-E-L-L and most of the women who have tried it never get any lasting results. I will throw this system away when I start working. It's not worth it when I get a job and will HAVE to have sleep at night.

I tried lots of cocktails using saw palmetto, milk thistle, goat rue, gosh...all of them if I keep naming them. I joined this site about natural breast enhancement and those women had it down to a science! However, to buy the herbs in the pure form and take the amount needed each day, it was a hassle, pretty expensive, and really did start messing with my periods.

http://beboard.proboards107.com/

That's the site and women have even posted progress photos.

I tried pueria mirifica a few months ago. I purchased a 2 months supply from a lender in Thailand off of Ebay. It was $50 a bottle minus shipping and I was advised to take 6-10 PER DAY! Also, I don't know if you have researched pueria, but you have to stop taking birth control in order to take it because it interferes with it since they are competing for the same thing. I didn't like that. Well, I got REALLY REALLY bad breast pains. It was like my ducts in my breast were throbing! I took the whole 2 months worth (and it tastes gross) with not one sign of growth. I was told that I had to keep doing it for 6 months to a year to see minimal results. WTH? That type of money, I could buy a brava system. So that's why I purchased brava and have regretted it ever since.

I too am thinking about surgery and am interested in your quest. I heard on the brava support board that there has been a technique done with hyaluronic acid that can fill the breast just like sugery, but is quick enough to do on your lunch break...and because the acid is natural, your body uptakes it in a matter of a year or two and you go back to your normal size.

Giirrrllll House you are a trip. Yes mycenae, I think you should do away with these other techniques and go for the surgery. They have improved the technique so much that risks are pretty low. Just make sure you do everything the doctor tells you to. Post-op pain is relative and different for everyone, so you pain can be more or less. I didn't want to be rude, but I am GLAD you are not spending 1000 on that bra thing, so I thank God someone spoke up. I haven't used it before but it just didn't seem right, but I didn't want to steal your joy....Anyhoo. Do your research, pay as much as you can afford (top dollar!) and get yourself the implants. I think you are smart and will do all your research. Good Luck....forget about the other things.

I have spoken with a plastic surgeon in my area and he was really good during my consultation. He even let me see and feel the different shapes of implants. It was scary though as he was telling me the risks. I want to have children in a few years and I don't want to take any risks whatsoever with not being able to breast feed. He said everything should be fine, but it is a risk that I don't want to take. So, I'm still going back and forth on the implant issue.

LOL!! Me too! I am a DD cup and the twins could use a lift!

Gurl! You crack me up! I call mine "the boys". lol
mycenae1918, Men hold sex an sexuality more dear than we do. We would like to think that it doesn't matter, but it does. WHat is he wanted to increase or (heaven forbid) decrease the size of his penis and you weren't up for it. How would you feel if he did it anyway??? Just a question.

Do you guys remember Sxtreme Makeover? SO many of those relationships went bad. Guys do not like change. You would think waking up to a beauty queen version of your ugly wife would make them happy... but they just looked sad mostly and some guys did not even show up at the unveiling! Think long and hard about your relatonship before making a choice.

House It's hard to take your opinion on this topic seriously with that avatar. The irony is almost painful.

No what is painful is constantly listening to this subject. Can you take that serious?

He will just have to deal. The funny part is that he doesn't even like me in padded bras!

ClassyCounselor, I think I heard that Pamela Anderson still breastfed. I am not going to breastfeed so it is not a concern for me. You could postpone the surgery until after you have kids? I am trying to work up the nerve to have a consultation before the end of the year.

Thanks for the advice. That's why I go back and forth on the issue because there have been a lot of women who could do it, but some that couldn't breast feed.

As you see, I have gone through many natural breast enhancement techniques just to avoid surgery, but nothing has helped. I understand where you come from with wanting implants and your partner's reaction. I've been wanting implants for 3 years. It's gotten to the point that my FH is tired of seeing me on this emotional journey - exhausting everything I come across to enhance my bust line. He went from being totally against it to just wanting me to be happy and get it over with.

It's very pleasant to have talked with you online since I do not know a lot of black women who have them or want them.

Re: Breast Implants

It is nice to find a sistah who wants them too. I have wanted them since I did not grow any breasts as a teen!

Re: Breast Implants

I haven't been on the site in a while.Let me say a belated welcome to all of the ladies that I haven't met yet.Mycenae, the only thing I can suggest is "DO WHAT'S BEST FOR YOU.NEVER MIND WHAT ANYONE ELSE THINKS."If having the surgery makes you feel better about yourself, then go for it!There's nothing wrong with trying to improve on your appearance. It doesn't mean that you have low self-esteem.So,Housewife,I disagree with some of the statements you've made.Do you feel that anyone that wants to lose weight has low self esteem because they continue to diet?I am a small-breasted woman and I've fantasized about having larger breasts.I even got up to a D cup when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter. But they went back to their normal size after 6 months.

I thought of having that surgery but I 'chickened out' because of some of the risks I've heard about and the prices that some of the surgeons were charging. (My first two cars didn't cost a much as the asking prices of these surgeons.Lol)It doesn't necessarily mean that I had low self esteem,I just wanted to make a few changes.

Born Blessed!

Re: Breast Implants

mycenae1918, while I wholeheartedly support what seems to be your lifelong dream, I urge you to try to find the underlying reason for your FH's objections.

Everyone has fetishes. Most people either don't realize they have one or are too embarrased to talk about it. He may have a "small-breast" fetish. If he does and you have the surgery, the relationship will definitely be threatened.

OTOH (on the other hand), he may simply be trying not to play into your insecurities. What do you expect him to say? "Damn right they too small! Whoo boy, I lay awake at night wishing you had bigger titties! Where's the phone? Let's make an appointment right now!!"

Maybe he wants you to do it because you want to do it and not because you think that he'll love you more afterwards.

Lord girl! The corner can't hold 'em all they need to see the principal! lol

I see this subject even brought my hubby out of the woodwork! :D

In marriage there is no more I, there is only WE and OUR. You aren't just doing this to YOU you are doing it to HIM too! Ask him if he prefers you like this. Maybe he is afraid of complications. Maybe he thinks your breasts are the most perfect thing on you. ASk him exactly what his deal is!
