Hi all,
I have a bit of sad news...I had to cancel my wedding in Sedona Arizona due to the financial difficulty we were having. We were soooo close but could not get funds together for the reception meal for 13 people, the rent-a-car and the bed-n-breakfast.
I thought this would never, ever happen to me. Now I am wondering if he has issues elsewhere.
You see, he complained so much about money, I heard about it every waking moment of my life for the past 6 months. and, I kept asking if the preparations are okay or not. I got the most streamlined, eveything..no doves, no swans, no elvis impersonators...I was really square with the ideas.
But, I just got so tired of hearing about the money (he is retired and he asked me to stop working!)that I gave up and asked if I could make a proposition to him. I didn't want to do it that way but I thought "what the heck, marriage is sacrifice and we can do something bigger later.." I also did not want him to live with hating or resenting me because of how much the wedding set him back.
We probably should have waited another year or so..9 months was just not enough time. now, I have to find another job anyway to help pay our bills on top of taking the loss on the wedding arrangements.
I feel bad..now he says he does not mind getting married at our church but is making faces when the assistant pastro told us we need to take a couple of classes before we are married in our church.
I'm down..but he thinks everything is an inconvenience to him personally...I still want to marry him but we are dealing with two of the biggest reason why couples split...we're tackling the money issue now...

Angie, I am sorry very sorry to hear the news that you are going to cancel your wedding. My heart and prayers go out to the both of you. Things will only get better. My GOD bless you and your fh with overwhelming blessings. Honey everything will work out for the best!

Sorry to hear about your plans but you know what is best for you.
I know that we all have an idea of our dream wedding but sometimes we have to wait until we can make that dream a reality. I must say that my husband I and just had our wedding last week and if I had it my way it would have really been over the top but God saw fit for it not to be. I was really upset that our honeymoon in Hawaii had to be delayed due to my husband starting a new job but this morning I realized that it was all in God's plan. Had we gone to Hawaii we would have been in the earthquake. I thank God that we were delayed. You say that you still want to marry him so don't focus on the wedding but focus on the marriage. You can always have a wedding when it's feasible for the both of you. I wish you many blessings!

Angie I am so sorry about what happened, however I think it happened for the best! Remember that God always has a plan for us all and even in the hard times, we have to continue to trust in him and let God have HIS way. This may be the time to sit and have a heart to heart with your fiance....From time to time we have to mak our fiance make some definite, final decisions, because sometimes they can be a little vague. And you deserve that. And remember that a delay is not a CANCELLATION of God's promises to you:) God Bless

That is a wonderful idea. Perhaps you could go to the JOP and then have a light brunch for the people close to you. Maybe someone would be willing to host it for you. It is the marriage and being surrounded by the people you care about that matters the most.

That is so true. God does alot of things but makes mistakes is not one of them. pre marital counseling is a good idea. It's not easy bringing two lives, two view points, two pasts together to make one future. I know everyone wants the fairy tale wedding but concentrate and be prayerful about the marriage. I will keep all of the brides to be in my prayers.
