You're going to crack up on this one. We met and dated long distance; nothing really serious in the beginning, getting a feel for one another.
Things got intense on a trip I made to FL for a babyshower and birthday. After that, we decided that we wanted to be together as boyfriend and girlfriend (not marriage) yet, ha!
Every Sunday night, he would go to a Raggae club called Waterway Cafe. He would always call me when he knocked down a few drinks, feeling mellow and all. A few times, he'd call and tell me "I'm ready to walk that isle, "I'm ready to take that step." I would always ignore this inebriation (my own word) as I call it and just enjoy the time spent talking on the telephone until one night, he adamantly said that he was ready to make that leap in life. I called his bluff. I told him that if he was ready, I was ready. I asked him again if this is what he really wanted to do. I could tell he was loosy goosey.
Come Monday, I called him and asked him when was I getting my ring. If you could have heard his rendition of "HUH!" You would have cracked up. When I told him everything that he'd said, he was dumbfounded and began laughing because I'm sure some of what he said he was able to recall. I told him that I wanted my ring as soon as possible. Talking about a bumbling stumbling sombody; said he had to talk to one of his friends who got their ring from someone they knew who owns a jewelry store.
Whenever we sit down and recall this memory, it is comical, let me tell you because, in actuality, he never officially proposed so, when we have rehearsal dinner, he's got to get down on one knee and do it properly.
He laughs at it, we both laugh. You gotta watch your words.
BELLEBLANC...first welcome to the boards, I'm still kinda new myself but I've learned alot of stuff and good tips from the women on this board. Secondly that is funny...you know people say that the truth comes out when you are slightly twisted....so he was saying obviously what he might not have had the courage to say when he was sober....MEN.....but that will be sweet when he proposes at the rehearsel dinner. When are you getting married?
He made the proposal a week long event. Everyday of the week, he had different colored roses (each day) sent to my job with a card containing clues. Thursday, he planned to propose to me at the Melting Pot but it rained, so he proposed at home (I really wish I could've gotten his 'speech' on tape! It was so touching, especially the part where he told me that he visited & prayed at my father's gravesite the day before for blessings), then we had dinner.
I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

I am getting married 12/9/06 Saturday Hilton Singer Island Hotel Oceanfront Resort.
I see this is a very old thred...but i'm fairly new here, so from our wedding web site I just copied and pasted our engagement story...for your entertainment...
As always, Jamie and I get dressed in our best gear...fur coats and all, and we stay in the house! We chef it up for New Years (our favorite holiday) and have an elegant in home experience. We feel as though being in the house, warm, safe,with our family, and eating well, is the perfect way to ring in a new year. This year the menu was a bit different. Lobster, King Crab legs, baked potatoes, basically food galore, and champagne, champagne, champagne. It was finally what... 11:59, and Jamie jumps up and talking about "The crab legs are burning!" My jaw dropped, 'No he isn't going to miss the beginning of the new year with me over some dog-gone crab legs!?!' So I yelled for him to 'bump the crab legs,' get back in because he was going to miss the ball drop. And here Jamie comes... and drops to his knee... Anyway...of course I said YES! A few minutes later a got a barage of phone calls from practically every member in my family congratulating me. They had kept the secret well as Jamie had sought my family's blessing for our engagement...I guess I was the only one surprised...
