LIMOS

I wanted to ask, I have a big wedding party, 8 bm's, 8 gm's, 1 fg, 1 rb, so there will be a total of 20 people in the wedding party. We wanted to get limos for all of us, plus for our parents, but that's starting to get a little pricey for our budget. What is the etiquette on this? Should we just get a limo for us and our parents and run the risk of our bridal party arriving to the reception site at different times or what? We are not sure what to do....but we also don't want to rent 3 limos to accomodate everybody...any suggestions?...

Re: LIMOS

Hi Soontobe:

You can find a list of questions to ask your limo company here. It also has info on how to best save money on limo rentals.

You have the entire bridal party ride with you TO the ceremony. You and new hubby ride away ALONE in the limo. Girls ride to reception with friends and family. Usally their BF, parents or husbands. Groomsmen and husband do not arrive in a limo usually. If they do it's on the bestman to arrange not you.

Re: LIMOS

Girl tell them to meet you at the church at such and such time early enough so everyone and get on point. Don't worry about being responsible to transport all your BM's there. If the funds allow, then fine, you guys all can ride together in one limo. And like she said, the men handle their own. Other than that don't sweat it. As far as the rest of the family, ONLY if the funds allow....plus you cannot worry about when such and such is going to be picked up and are the limos on time to pick up your peeps who are going to be scattered everywhere. Its so hard to round family members up in one place at one time. You will have better things to worry about....like walking down the aisle!

Re: LIMOS

Wow! Rosey and Bumble are right your bridal party and who ever else can ride separately. Only muself, my husband, my stepson and 2 FG's rode(the kids wanted to ride so we let them) to the reception in the limo. Our bridal party and family members followed the limo and it worked out well because we all got there at the same time. They didn't even have to be told to follow us or a time to be there by, they just did!

Re: LIMOS

I was having a similar problem, I was going to get dressed at the location that I am having my wedding, but my father insisted on paying for the transportation. I am however going to have my bridal party park there cars at the reception site before we get dressed so they can drive there own cars home. My fh is going to get a rental car, so we only need the limo's to take us to the location where the ceremony will be held.

Re: LIMOS

I've called 4 different limo places....and the average give or take a few dollars for 2 limos seating 8 each is like $600. The problem is we only need the dag on limo service for about an hour IF THAT, but I've learned that most limo services have a 3 hour minimum even if you don't use them, so guess what, looks like my bridal will be SHORT...that's an unnecessary expense....thanks ladies. I think I'm in the wrong business man....I either need to take up photograpy, or open up a limo service....sheesh....lol

Re: LIMOS

Soontobe,
Now if you are considering saving on a limo for you and hubby after the ceremony and then after the reception, you can save money by renting a very nice car. My FH and I are renting a Chrysler 300 for us to drive to the reception from the ceremony, and then we will drive to our honeymoon from there (because we are doing a 5-day trip to a resort in FL-2 hr drive from us due to my school/work schedule). At least when you rent, you can spend maybe half of the limo costs, and then you can at least keep the car for more than a few hours. You can probably find a friend or groomsman willing to play chauffer for a day.

Why not check limo companies all at once? If you do it online, limo companies will eimail you a quote. Just choose cars you like and let them know what you want and wait. Let them compete for your business.

Happy Monday to you all. It slipped my mind that our church has a limo service, and I happen to know the guy in passing from the church that owns the service. So I called him and asked him how much he would charge me for that date. He said he would just charge me $150 PER CAR! Now that is a SHO-NUFF deal compared to the other price quotes that I've been receiving! Thank ya LAWDY!

Soontobe, where do you live?

I decided to get only 2 cars. FH & I will be in a Escalade and the bridal party will be in a Mega Stretch Lincoln. The problem was the Lincoln only hold 12 people and I have 14 people in the bridal party party. I decided to have someone take our kids to the picture site after the ceremony and then they can ride in the truck with us on our way back to the reception. But, only for those two cars, it's costing $1500 and some change.

DUH!..didn't see that....how do you add the location? And you looked around and couldn't find anything cheaper then that for your transportation? Or maybe do what some of the posters said on this thread, get a smaller car for you and your babes? I've decided on getting 2 limos only because he's hooking me up......I know the bride and groom are supposed to ride alone together, but we'll all have to pack away in those 2 limos. That does not bother me though...

Yes, I have shopped around. This is the "best" price though because they actually give you 3 1/2 hours instead of 3 hours. And there's a 10% discount if you book 2 or more cars. Soon, I'm like you. We will have the car to ourselves leaving the ceremony, they (the kids) will join after the pics. Plus we will have ALL night to celebrate and be alone. :-)

Since my wedding ceremony and reception is at the same location I only need for someone to pick us up and drop us off at the venue, and pick us up later.

That's what I'm talkin' bout Septbride HA! We are going to be "celebrating" too! I would love to get a big jeep for us, but it just not in our budget to go there....all we need is for the limo to take us from the church to the reception site....and that's about 15 mins away...

Re: LIMOS

I decided to only get 1 limo for me and FH. Being that a second car would only be used for a total of approximately 1/2 hour, I opted to have only 1. The limo will pick up the bridal and take them to the venue, but when we go to take pics, they'll just car pool together (it's only about a 5 minute ride). I'll use that $700 on something else.

Re: LIMOS

Septbride, I think that is a smart decision on your part especially since the reception site is only 5 mins away. That money could be used for something else. If I didn't get the deal that I got, I would only be getting one limo and everyone else would be carpooling also. We've got to save money everywhere we can!

I had 13 people in total in my bridal party. We had two eight passenger limos. We were able to fit everyone in, to the church and the reception. The hotel, church and reception site were 5 minutes apart. We also received a discount because we got married in the morning.

Tradition went out the window with us. This is what we did. We took our daughter in the car with us. My sister rode up front with the driver, so it was only the three of us in the back. The other car had the rest of the bridal party and one of the best men rode up front with with the driver. My mom rode to the reception site with my brother.

So are any of you planning to rent limos, or for you married ladies, did you rent limos? Our problem is that all but 4 of our 16 bridal party members are traveling from out of state and will not have transportation, so we are looking to rent limos for a few hours, at least to take us from the hotel to the church, and from the church to the reception. There will be enough family members at the reception to provide rides back to the hotel. I know limos can be pretty expensive, so I am just wondering if any of you have any ideas on how we might be able to save money with transportation. My brother may be able to get us a discount with a couple of limo companies, so I'm praying that this works out for us. Any ideas?

Or you can have your limos make more than one trip to pick up your family members. If it is coordinated well, it could work out fine depending on how far you have to travel. We did it and it worked well for us.

You can also have the BM's carpool to the church and get dressed there. You can then save $$ and do a rental car for after the wedding to the church to save $$. You can also rent an extra car for the day to handle transport issues...This can be about less than 50.00/day for this extra transport. If you can get BM's to agree to drive their cars to thehotel and to the reception site that can help.

We didn't rent limos we used our cars. SIL got a brand new car at our wedding time and let us use hers to drive to the reception site. But our wedding party was quite small. The wedding party members just happened to have very nice new cars, so they rode in that, but we could have rented a limo if we wanted to.
