Have any of you started your holiday shopping? I am going to get my son this VTech game today. They educational games to go with it. I got my daughter a Bratz Sushi Bar for $15 from Big Lots and I am going to get her some Bratz Dolls this weekend. I got FH a couple of "things", nothing major. He loves coffee so I got him a coffee mug he can plug in to his car lighter to keep it warm. I am a bargain shopper.

I got my FH a back massager back in September from Brookstone and I as his Christmas Gift and some colonge for him. Other than my immediate family, thats it. I hate shopping at this time of the year. I LOVE eating though!

I bought Bryson(my stepson)a Vflash off of Ebay. We haven't finished shopping for him yet though. I got my husband tickets to ATL Falcons vs Carolina Panthers for 12/24, a pair of Timberland boots, and a Treo cell phone. He has no idea how good his Christmas will be but he will not be getting anything else for a while.
As for family we're getting our mothers a gift certificate for a Spa treatment and our fathers are going to the game with my husband.

We are only doing immediate family as we just got married. Now we are on to our next venture -- saving for a house. I bought my hubby an Ipod and a set of luggage. I bought my daughter a watch set, some jewelry and her dad and I are giving her an AMEX gift card so that she can buy whatever she wants. We are sending everyone else cards.

Copper~ Target also has some Bratz on sale for about $6.89 (up here in VA). One of my sisters lives in NJ and she is the one who told me about the Bratz Sushi Bar for $15.
Bumble~ I love the eating at this time of the year as well! It's all the best foods; pies and cookies and one of my favorites potato salad, YUM!
PureBliss~ I picked up a VFlash for my son too. I think this is going to be a great educationa investment and it will be fun too! You got yours off EBay. Did you get a good price? I got my son the Spiderman game to go with it. That boy is so in to Spiderman. I am giving him a Spiderman birthday party 12/15. I know he will so happy! If I got my FH a new cell phone he probably wouldn't know how to use it. We are so far behind on technology and we are in our (very) early 30s! LOL!!!
Rhonda~ Your house is more important than gifts and I am sure everyone will understand. Did you get your daughter a Hello Kitty Watch set?
My shopping has just begun. As I stated earlier I got my daughter a Bratz Sushi Bar, three Bratz (that should meet the bratz quota) and some shirts, so far. My son has the VFlash with the spiderman game, a spider man web shooter thing (I don't know), and a remote control Hummer, I may give him the Hummer for his birthday. My FH has a coffee warmer and a flask. I really don't know what else to get FH he's so hard to shop for!
I have not started shopping yet and actually I am dreading it. I refuse to go shopping this weekend because its the first and I know the store is going to be rediculous. I am thinking about going sometime during the week next week. I wish my children was at the age where I could just give them money.

You know DW I didn't even think of getting her a Hello Kitty watch set, I'm sure she would've loved it. Instead I got her a interchangeband leather set, that she can change up with her outfits -- you know how these teenagers are -- LOL!!!

I do know how they are. I don't have any (yet). But my nieces are crazy about stuff like that. Everything has to match!

DWBride, where did you find the Spiderman game for the Vflash? I'm planning to get him more because the only two at Walmart were SpongeBob and Scooby-Doo. That Hello Kitty watch set would be cute for my god daughters.

I got the game from Target. It was about $30. I was surprised to see that a game came in the box, too. Did you notice that?

My FH really wants a Playstation 3 or a Wii this year but he won't buy either for himself since we're saving for the wedding. I think I'll surprise him and get the Wii. (PS3 will have to wait until the price drops some.)

I know that's right. I told my son and FH, they're going to have to wait until around 2008 for it. lol That price is rediculous right about now.
LOL (to both posts)! Did you see all of the accidents they say the Wii is causing? They said the controls are flying out of people's hands and cracking TV's and windows, etc. I think the Wii would be better than the PS3 because you are actually moving around and exercising.
I hear ya sistas! My husband wants a PS3 or an xbox 360. Now I don't get deep into the games but that seems like a whole lot of money for a game. We went to Best Buy and he was trying to show me how clear and real it is but still........ We are in the process of saving so we can buy a house so unless we can all jump into the T.V. screen and live on the Madden football field that might have to wait until the price comes down. Do you know people were camping out overnight just to stand in line when the PS3 came out?

Yeah the stories are pretty funny. People are getting tennis elbow without actually playing real tennis.
I never thought that the day would come where I would think that game system that was $250 would be affordable. There has to a point where people say that's too much. Once you buy the system, you still have to buy the games to play on it.

Exactly!!! It's crazy. The games alone are like $60. They have taken the phrase "you have to pay to play" to a whole new level.

There were stampedes in Walmart and even shootings over those PS3s. A friend of mine from college was help up at his mall but he's an idiot and fought them back. He's lucky he didn't get shot himself.

The PS3 thing is crazy. I see no point in buying a game that costs that much, that's a car note. I have a relative that has 2 kids and he and his girlfriend live with my aunt (and have been for the past 5 years because they can't afford to live on their own) that purchased a PS3 fore their kids. When she found it hidden in her house she hit the rough because they barely help her pay the mortgage and don't pay a dime for the lights, water,cable, etc. Now where are their priorities? Imagine some of the people who purchased these that can't aford them. It's ridiculous! Now if you can afford it and it won't make you or break you then so be it. That's my soapbox.

It always amazes me how some people prioritize their belongings over basic necessities. People would rather buy the latest video game system, flat screen tv, shoes or clothes rather than pay their utility bills or keep track of their credit. Down the line when they need to buy a house or a car, they wonder how the credit got so bad.

I agree with all of you, not paying bills to keep up with the Jones', yeah right. If I don't pay the bills we can't even play the game cause there will be no house or no electricity!
With those game system the kids are not doing anything but playing the games all day. This is why my kids have never gotten a game system until the VTech my son will get this year. It will tech him math skills. He is (almost)only nine! He does not need something that will keep him in front of the tv and not teach him anything. If they were teens I may think differently about it or if the other systems sold educational games I may have gotten it for them.
It's true but it usually catches up with you in the long run.

You ladies are absolutly right about those games. I am proud to say I am about finished w/my shopping and have been since October. I bought my baby the v-smile or something like that. It's up to age 6-8 so he will have it for awhile. We also got him the Spiderman motorcycle since he also loves Spidey. we got several games to go w/his v-smile. Some dvd's and clothes. The other kids got clothes and a couple got gift cert to have pedicures and manicures. We have too many kids to list all they got that kinda sums it up. My fh has been wanting an automatic starter for the truck. His remote also has been acting up for the alarm. Since he won't buy it himself due to the wedding, I got it for him. I took the Ex, had it installed and turned off. Two days b4 Christmas I just need to take it so the guy can turn it on. He will be sooo excited.

Tajmom~ I say every year that I am going to start shopping early and I never do... Maybe next year.
My daughter came home and told me that she has 6 friends she wants to by gifts for. I just went to the Victoria Secret website and bought everyone body splash and lotion sets, they were on sale. That's something I think a bunch of teenaged girls would like and it didn't break the bank.

Update: I went to Gamestop because they were supposed to have Wii's in stock. They didn't have them but they had the PS3 instead. So I bit the bullet and got it and an extra controller for him. I can't wait to see his face when he opens it.

I paid regular retail price for it $599. So I didn't have to pay anyone on ebay who is charging $1200-1800. I can't believe that people are paying these prices.

I don't know what I'm going to do for the week after Christmas. My computer is down and my job is going to be closed the WHOLE week (not complaining about that) but I will be without a computer and my VIBride sisters.... (sigh)
