A wedding/reception is a public display of the commitment that you two have obviously already made. If this is something that you would like to share (and who wouldn't?) then of course you should do it. As I have been slowly learning, there are no standards, it's about what you all want, and what significance it will have for you as a couple.
a wedding is a beautiful thing...whenever it's done.
Honey that decision is totally up to you and your husband. I say that if that's what you want then do it. Make your own rules dont let someone make them for you.
Yes! Plenty of people have done it. I am doing that also. Since I am having a destination wedding, when we get back we are having a reception for the family members who would of like to have been there but can't.
We have a lot of brides that do that here. You could skip the ceremony and have just the reception. (Bear in mind the party is the most expnsive part of the wedding.) But if you would like to have a full service ceremony and reception I say why not????
You could have a vow renewal and have the reception and ceremony in the same place! A garden would be great in August or a museum, maybe...
mrsbillups, welcome to the site! The important thing is to celebrate your union with your loved ones. I have been to a few receptions that took place after the actual wedding. If your heart is telling you yes, go with it.

If other people dont do it you still can! I am planning to go to either the courthouse or Vegas and getting married on my original wedding date, March 24,2007 and then renewing our vows on December 8th 2007. You can do what you want. We have a saying going around here on VI, your pay your way!You can have and do anything u wanna do for your wedding.People who dont agree or dont like it can stay at home.In the end the only people you should care about are you and your husband.
The Main thing is that you are happy. And coming from someone who's been planning her own wedding for over a year, you want to be happy and still have your right mind. I love the idea of having a ceramony and reception or even just a reception to celebrate your marriage. Possibilities are endless, the ladies here have great ideas to give you too!
MrsBillups....do what you feel and stand behind your decision 100%, seek God continuosly, and you will be alright.
The first rule to wedding planning is that there are no rules. You abide by the ones YOU want to follow!
Nothing is totally new, but there is so much room for creativity and individualization....I think you should go for whatever you want.

I say go for it. A lot of couples wait until their _ anniversary to have a "wedding ceremony".

I agree with the other ladies, do what you feel. You could always do a reception on your anniversary and wear a gown.
It is all up to you MrsBillups and welcome to the site!!! I believe you should do what ever makes you and your hubby happy.
