Shoes for Bridesmaids

Currently I am having a problem with chosing the shoes for my bridesmaids. I have 1 MOH and 4 bridesmaids. One of them have a wide foot, one doesn't like to wear open-toe shoes. I did chose a pair, but one of my bridesmaids verbilized her "concern" about the shoes. It kind of hurt my feelings and made me mad at the same time. I have been working hard to consider everyones situation, butI have about two months until the wedding. My question is... Is it ok for the bridesmaids to have different types of shoes. The dresses are black, so of course I want a black shoe. I considered dyables, but all of my bridesmaids are in different areas.

Re: Shoes for Bridesmaids

To avoid this problem I let my bridesmaids(3) and MOH choose their own shoes. They are allowed to wear whatever shoes they want as long as they are all white or get them died to the exact color of the dresses we chose.

We women are very particular about our shoes. To avoid confrontation let them choose their own shoes as long as tey fit your standards. You can buy dyeable shoes anywhere..look online check local bridal shopes. If you have a shoe you like get the style name or code and give it to your ladies and have them buy them near where they live.I dont hink its a problem to have them in different shoes unless you are a person who is set on uniformity. If not just let them do whatever within you standards.

Re: Shoes for Bridesmaids

Alvinslove, this is exactly what I did and my Aunt protested my decision. There are some women who don't feel comfortable in open toe and or high heels. I allowed my bridesmaids to choose their style, as long as the shoes remained a tasteful silver. I know it's a pain in the ass to hear everyone complain about what hurts and what they don't wear, but the bottom line is that you want your party to be sharp as a tack and comfortable as well.

Don't stress yourself on this one. Just make sure that the shoes aren't a tacky color and that maybe they have the same type of fabric.

Re: Shoes for Bridesmaids

I am gooing to allow my bridesmaids to wear diffrent shoes, but the same color. I hate when people just dont go with the flow and always have something to complain about. This isnt your wedding its mine. When its your time you can decide what to do. I went with one of my bridesmaides to db friday to see what she would look like in the bridesmaids dress, It fit her perfect, so perfect that she doesnt need anything done to the dress. The dress cost 180.00 which maybe a little outragous, but when you look at she doesnt need and alterations its not that bad. Anyway, she called me the next morning and found a dress that was similar, for 125.00. I was so annoyed about how she keeps complaining about this dress. Mind you when I first asked everyone I told them how much the dress cost. I even went as far as pulling her to the side and telling her that maybe she should talk to her husband first about being in the wedding, because she is going back to school and he will be the soul provider. I want the dresses that I saw, not the one that is cheaper. I will express to my bridesmaids that I like the one from db better, however I am willing to take a vote and which ever dress wins then that's what it is.

Sistah girl need to stop it already! She needs to get hte damn dress you picked and leave it at that!........sorry I was having a flashback.

Have a talk with her and see if her reason of wanting to change the dress is because of the financial issue. If so ten I can understand becasue she has one income. But if not then she needs to stop trippin and just go with the flow of what you already decided. Also what did your other bridesmaids say about this situation?Do they want to change the dresses too?

Re: Shoes for Bridesmaids

I understand everybody's pain. This shoe thing and dress thing is really annoying. It's like no one respects your decision. They act like you just randomly chose a certain shoe or dress just because. Every decision I've made so far has been for a reason...... It's what I know coordinates well together. The problem with me is that there are too many opinions and not enough help with the wedding. My wedding is in 2 months and no one has mentioned a wedding shower or anything. Sorry,I just had a moment.

Re: Shoes for Bridesmaids

Maybe a little stupid for asking this question, but do you all think that I should require everyone to were open toe or closed toe. Or does it matter as long as the shoe is black satin? The dresses are not quite floor length and you can acutally see the shoes.

I let my girls pick out their own shoes too, as long as they were silver. One less thing to stress out about, especially when you have a nice size bridal party.

Re: Shoes for Bridesmaids

I agree with the Ladies about letting everyone pick their own shoes. On the other hand,my SIL picked our shoes when I was a BM in my brother's wedding. She picked out heels for the shorter ladies and gave me flats.(This didn't bother me because I'm 6'0" tall and I really don't wear heels that often).I ended up wearing only one shoe.I had a broken right ankle and was on crutches anyway.lol.

Re: Shoes for Bridesmaids

When I first asked all of my girls they said that it would be no problem. When I asked this particular girl she said I have my money now, and that it would be no problem. I dont understand what the big deal is. When you agree to be in someones wedding you know what entails. I have a billion and one things to be worring about and pleashing my bridesmaids is not one of them.

Angie I really dint htink it would matter if they wore open or closed toe shoes. The attention will be on you and your FH so who care what kind of shoes the have on. If they are wearing open toe hsoes make sure they get their toes dont....No ugly critters peaking from under the dress!

I think I'm going to let my girls pick their own shoes as well. But, I will want to see them first. I need to make sure everyone's shoes matches in color. There are so many different shades of every color. However, they will all have to agreee on the style (open toe, sandle, strappy, etc).

lol Cinny. I love that cut so much that we're trying to get my setting changed to princess cut for the wedding. It's going to cost about $700 dollars though. :-( Maybe we'll do it for one of our anniversaries instead - BUT I LOOOOOVE PRINCESS CUT! :-)

When FH and I were discussing which type of rings that I like my first choice was an Emerald cut, the VERY CLOSE second was a princess cut. I would NOT be disappointed with either one of those. He ended up getting me a princess cut with a cathedral setting and a big band. It is gorgeous! He did good all by himself.....

Re: Shoes for Bridesmaids

I know I;m a little late, but I took my BM's to the mall together yesterday and told them to find a silver shoe. We went to 2 stores and they got their shoes that day-Both different, but silver, and me being their helped me speed up the approval. It took one hour and I am glad its done. Too much daggone stress. Thats why I only have 2 BM's.
About that dress, House tell her thats not the dress we are using and that she will be able to walk down the aisle only with the dress you picked. If she wants to be last minute about it, then fine. She got her directives! No dress-then she gets benched, simple as that.

I actually got my BM's jewelry as a gift. The dresses I let them pick as long as it was the correct color at the same store. I also monitored their alterations and made dress suggestions....so of course they really ended up picking the dress "I Liked":)
