Sounds pretty to me. And very elegant. Keep the shells small and tasteful, not too obvious or literal. I like the idea.

Personally yes I feel something like that will not be elegant. Having it on a yacht is so elegant and there are so many other things that you can do to make it so memorable. But I think the sea shell thing would be more appropriate for someone who was having an outside beach wedding. But where ever you have your wedding I believe that's where the theme of your wedding should set off....for instance you would not put a gazebo inside of a church (even though I have seen it before). But it is your day and you can pretty much make anything elegant. But I seen this one girls wedding and she had it in a hall and everything was so beautiful but the sea shell idea through it off to me. But that's just my personal opinion. But another idea is to make the sea shells into something elegant like maybe get all pearl color sea shells and have pearls around the cake....you can always make the sea shells look elegant.

Jayda you could also have seashell soaps in earth tones as favors. Just make sure they don't look like candy.
