Tx Trouble

Are any of you from Texas?? I really need some information regarding a Photographer and Videographer. I want one with wonderful work, and someone I can definately count on. I actually already have someone in mind, but the poor guy doesn't speak any english. I don't want to have to stress about if he knows exactly what I want. Now, don't get me wrong, I've seen his work, and I absolutley loved it. His daughters, who knows english, comes out and they also work with him. I know this is important, and with my "unique" date and all, I really need to choose someone quick. Any suggestions/opinions...

Re: Tx Trouble

if you like his work and the price is right, see if you can get in touch with some past clients. Because reliability is key too. If you are happy with the results then go for it. We found our photographer by referral, saw and loved his work, met with him a couple of times and we jumped on it! That was the easiest vendor choice we made-besides the cake!

His work is wonderful, a little expensive, but you get what you pay for. I just don't want to have an opportunity for miscommunication, with him not knowing "exactly" what I want and all...

The only thing that I can suggest is look through your local phone book and ask your reception venue who they recommend.

Re: Tx Trouble

You can jot down the definate pictures that you want him to take before your wedding day. Give your list to his daughter and discuss it with her. She can relay the message to her dad. (This is what I would do).

However, if you think you will still be worried, then find someone else.

late...but
unless you are bilingual, I wouldn't suggest working w/this dude...sorry. hand motions can sooo be misunderstood. Is he going to come to the job site (your wedding) with his own personal interpreter? Agree with bumble...seek (english speeking) refrences.

Well Ms. Boston, his daughter is suppose to translate for us. I recently met with her, but I'm still unsure if I want to go through with it. Like you stated, things can be misunderstood, and I could only blame myself.

07, You may want to read into your intuitions a little. I know he's good, but your gut is telling you something you may already know. Like we said, at the very least, continue to shop around and also do some interviews.....see what else you can come up with. IF you really like the work, see if they will do some test shots to practice a shoot for you and FH. They don't have to do a lot, but at least it may help to allay some of your hesitations about the language barrier.

You may want to check theknot.com for local photographers. I looked at some really good ones on there. I'm from Texas, but I'm cutting costs by having mutual friends do it (who have been doing weddings for other friends). That way I know they will know who is important and what shots to get.

I love the areas outside of Houston. They are close enough to commute to the city, but far enough away from Houston to feel cozy. Very nice choice on places to live, MsBoston, if I may say so myself. hehe. Good luck with relocating.

I live in Houston, but I will be relocating soon. I will be away from my mom and rest of the fam, but will visit at least every other week.
