Coctail hour question

Do people have a DJ during the coctail hour? From all of the weddings I've been to, I don't remember music/DJ.

ETA: I know that's not how you spell coctail, but I didn't want the bleep. lol

Re: Coctail hour question

We played instrumental jazz music during the "coctail" hour. I don't know what the rules are concerning that, but the jazz music was perfect.

Re: Coctail hour question

Sept, I've been told that that's really a personal choice. I've been to weddings where they had the DJ play for the cocktail hour & others where they had light jazz or an instrumental soloist playing.

It's all personal preference. IMO, I think that to pay for that hour for a DJ to play is crazy (but, you know you're pockets better than me). I'd go for the light jazz or an instrumental soloist (harp, flutist, etc).

Good luck....

I think music is a must have for the "coc ktail" hour. Music seems to add to the celebration. I agree though w/DR light music works best preferable intrumental...save the real get down music for after dinner!

Re: Coctail hour question

We're having live music, a Jazz Trio for co cktail hour.
Depending on your number of guest, there will be allot of socializing/talking during the cocktail hour. If you're having a large wedding the music (if it's not live) may get drowned out by the sounds of peoples' voices.
