Venue for Receptions

I am seriously having a hard time planning my reception. This is my first ever marriage so I decide that we would just go to the Justice of Peace and then have a nice small reception but I am having the hardest time finding an affordable place in Brooklyn, NY to have a reception. I don't have a clue as to what I am doing and I seriously need help. I already have a DJ,entertainment and I'll be providing the alcohol as well as the servers but I don't have a place everywhere is really expensive. Can someone please help me?

Welcome nmccoy2!
I dont know much about NY, but all I can say is start looking around now! Places fill up fast. When is the big day? How many people is reception for, and what is your budget? -all things to keep in mind when choosing.

nmccoy,

I recently went to a friends wedding, who didn't want to spend alot of money so she had everything at a community center, this place was gorgeous. Not sure what type of place you;re looking for. Also try your local chamber of commerce they will sometimes have a list of places that you may be able to host your event. Hope this helps

Hey girl...welcome to the site!
I'm in NY & I was on a limited budget a few years ago. However, we threw my dad a surprise party @ Forest Park in Queens. They've held several weddings there as they have 2 floors & you can bring in everything of your own (caterers, drinks, DJ, decorations, etc). I believe when I rented the place 3 years ago, for 4 hours it was approx. less than 3K. If interested, note me & I will locate the info for you to contact them.

Good luck....
