Need your opinions ladies....

...I have a question. I know usually the bridal party hosts the bridal shower. My question to you is, if you were in a BP, what amount is too much to ask for when contributing to the bridal shower?

Re: Need your opinions ladies....

For me it would be determined by my relationship with the person I'm hosting the shower for. For instance if it was my sister, or best friend, I would probably be willing to give more than for say a co-worker, or casual friend. It would also depend on where you were having the shower, theme, etc. Sorry I didn't give a specific amount but you have to consider all of the variables. At the very least I believe all the costs should be considered divided equally by the # of people you have in your bridal party.

Thanks Rhony. And no, you didn't answer my question.

Re: Need your opinions ladies....

The place that I booked to hold my bridal shower was 1,200 dollars. I put 600 down and I left the balance for them. My girls are paying 200 a piece, and that if for the hall and the chair covers. I thought that asking them to pay for the hall, all the items for the bridal shower, my bachlorette party, and there items for the wedding would be too much to ask.

Re: Need your opinions ladies....

Since my BP consist of family and close friends, I left everything up to them. The only thing I'm in charge of is who I want and invited, and I requested no strippers or anything like that.....I think if you specify to your BP want you want and how you want your shower, I'm sure they will do want they can to make it special for you. Like House if you see that what you want is getting up there in price...you can offer to help pay......I'm a simple girl so I'm not asking much....lol...

A few years ago a co-worker asked me to be in her wedding because her family member dropped out at the last minute. I decided to help her out because we were cool (I wouldn't say close). She already had the dress which was my size. She was in a bind and I just decided to help her out. It ended up working out well and I had a great time. However, if she had asked me to contribute to anything I wouldn't have gone that far out for her.

Good advice. I know which of my friends are dead broke (sorry but...) so I know better than to ask for anything extra, i'm just greatful that shes agreed to be in the wedding so I have been footing a few of the extra expences for her. She's really a good friend.
I wouldn't be ashamed to ask 150-200 a piece from the others, they knew when I asked them that it wasn't all about slipping into a pretty dress.

Re: Need your opinions ladies....

Askalot I think that 200.00 is a nice round number... If your party is large then they may can pay less than that. since my bridal party was so small (2 girls) I think it would have been a bit much for me to ask them to spend a whole bunch of money...I read about one girl say that after all the bridal shower, bachelorette party, hair, makeup, dress, etc, "incidentals, she spent over 1000.00 ALONE. And thats because the bride just got too demanding and they couldn't figure out a way to say, okay, I imaginged spending some cash, but This much????? Sh was happy for her friend but it really broke her pocketbook, plus she ended up having the bag in her hand. So as brides we have to have continuous input on the budget for the showers and their needs and if you really want something, like House did, go ahead and foot the bill or help them out so you can get what you want and the girls don't feel like Your wedding is going to break them. Plus the continued dialogue and encouragement may help them feel comfortable (I mean they should already) with discussing affordable options.....I think you know this, but I am saying this for others too....I am still shocked that girl spent that much money...So like with 12 BM's thats like them spending 12,000 to be her BMs and give her showers and make her feel good, and the girl's wedding didn't even cost that much.....

See that adds up. I would much rather 12k go somewhere more useful.
