Mycenae's Blog

Hi, I am ready to start blogging. I have to keep mine positive! We are looking at next fall. I want around 100-150 guests. I haven't done anything except pick out some possible colors. I am thinking either red and white or white and orange. A fantasy of mine was a chocolate and pink. I do have a coordinator in mind so it is setting in.

You're welcome ....for bridesmaid dresses, you can do red with orange florals. It doesn't have to be an equal mix ...the wedding can be red and white, with hints of orange (ie florals, centerpieces) or vice versa ...Have fun!

Re: Mycenae's Blog

I plan to give them a few choices and all. My pal that I love and want to ask to be my MOH is short and I thought of her when picking the dresses and she hates to have he back out. I let it slip that I didnt want to pick a strapless dress and she laughed and said she would wear what I picked. Now I am clueless about picking attendants. I am going to think it through and ask soon. I want orange dresses with red sashes.

Re: Mycenae's Blog

Ok mycenae, if I understand properly is that you're looking to have an evening wedding, next fall. I have looked at your bridal gown from David's Bridal and I absolutely love it. Our sister T. has given you a lot of super ideas for your wedding. In my opinion, to have the chocolate and pink in your wedding, you'd have to change the detail of your gown. I would suggest first and foremost that you concentrate on finalizing your theme and your colors. That is the most important as it influences your choice of gowns, yes, I said gowns because you will see that your choice of gowns will change every so often, but if you choose your theme and your colors first, it will narrow down your choices. Think about it.

Re: Mycenae's Blog

Mycenae, to save those gowns that you like from David's bridal all you have to do is save them to your favorite. For example, the gown that you're looking at, if you scroll at the bottom of the page, it will give you a choice to "Save it to my favorites". You click on that. Then if you go to the top of the page and click on my favorite. It will open all those things that you saved. If you then right click on the gown that you saved and you would choose to "Save pictures as" and then save it on the PC. It should make it easier for you to post on here as I've given instructions on how to do so, but will gladly do it again.

Re: Mycenae's Blog

I love the pics T posted for you, especially the first centerpiece idea. My wedding colors were burnt orange and kiwi but I used alot of red mixed with orange in my florals for added pop.

Even though my dresses weren't from David's Bridal, I used the dress your wedding feature and just selected similar dresses to what I chose. I LOVED that feature, especially when I got to view the whole wedding party together. It really does help you see what it will all look like.

Re: Mycenae's Blog

To add to the wonderful ideas that T gave you previously. Take a look at these, but keep in mind the gown that you're looking at (I think that if you look, you'll find other gowns that you like much, much better.)
1. How about centerpieces.

2. Table decor

3. Misc.

The more information you provide, the more I could give you examples. Ordinarilly, I would've come up with more if I knew more about you and your FH's relationship, but you now have to come up with a theme on your own. I hope that next you speak with your FH about solidifying a date for your wedding because as you know most things must be booked nearly a year in advance.

Thank you. I think I want the orange and red. I will change the gown then. I chose an ivory gown with no color to match that. I will try to post. it. I have saved then to my favorites and I am working with the "dress your wedding module." I wish I could show that to you guys. I will try to post the new dress.

I think BOTH your original dress choice and the new dress are lovely and BOTH work with your color scheme. While many people will come at you with ideas about YOUR wedding, please remember, your wedding is a reflection of YOU. It's all about what you like and what makes you happy.

thank you. its just that changing the colors mean changing the dress. I want the bright colors. that reflects me. I want to keep it simple though. I know how I can get. LOL the wedding I was in was very simple and traditonal and it was so pretty and we enjoyed it so much.

Re: Mycenae's Blog

Mycenae, guess what, I have the same dress and my colors are red and white. It has been in my cousin's closet since December of last year. She is my MOH. I actually need to get over there and try that bad boy on. I picked an A-line dress so I wouldn't have to worry about gaining weight in my middle section, but I think I need to worry about my boobs now, they seem to have grown a bit since that last dress fitting for some odd reason:)
I called David's Bridal to make sure that the dress would be ok and she said just as long as I keep it in the garment bag, it won't change colors

I must admit that I love the 2nd gown better, but sister, that's only my 2 cents worth. At the end of the day, you must choose whichever one fits you best and Ivory, is the perfect color for your evening wedding. It will look very soft.

We decided to have an engagement party. So, I am wondering is it okay to have the same colors and theme for the engagement party as for the wedding. I want an "autumn extravaganza" theme. With the red and the orange? I am looking into a hall or restaurant something because we both have small places. I know it means I have to do my guest list early.

I am thinking of getting a small hall or a restaurant for the occassion. I think we are going to have about 150 guests so I can start my list. He says no liquor. I am thinking early November. Do you announce your bridal party and things like that at an engagement party or do you just mix and mingle?
