FH and I will do the traditional vows but we will add our own sentiments to eachother. We are (he better) memorizing them. I actually may just speak from the heart at that moment.
We are writing our own vows, at this point I have several little pieces of paper with thoughts I have had over the past six months. Just have to find a way to piece it all together.
I was going to sing "stay with you" by john legend. But I don't think i will make it through it.
We are doing traditional vows. My FH keeps mentioning writing our own, but if we do I don't want to read it from the paper but I also don't want to forget it either. With all that's going on right now I really don't know if I can find enough time to rest my mind and memorize.....don't know....we'll make that decision a little later....
I've dreamed of reading my vows, and FH reading his. I know he'll never go for it, and I wouldn't be able to get through it either.
I did see a wedding on WWIIA, and the officiator was able to personalize the vows and the couple repeated them. He also spoke in third person and said something like- "mary when john first met you he knew that he had met his wife..." It was still touching and a good way to get the feelings/words out if you are not able to d/t crying or whatever.
We discussed doing our own vows but DH is a man of few words and said he didn't want to think to much just wanted to show up and say "I do". Plus knowing me, I would have wanted to proof read what he wrote first.
"I'm a work in progress, God is not through me yet"
thanks ladies. I'm a big ole baby. So, I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it through. NOt only that, I have so much on my brain right now, that I don't know if I'm going to be able to memorize them. But, surprisingly, FH WANTS to write our own vows.
My FH and I are writing our own vows. His are already finished, and mine are about 75% finished. We'll read them from paper, though, because with all of the nerves and emotion on that day, we just don't want to forget any words.
We will be reciting our own vows (& more than likely reading them from what we've written...me anyway). Thank God, I stil have a year to prepare myself.
MzTajsia,
Been doing the same, as it comes to me, I jot it down, hoping eventually to put in formation. PS, sing to your man. and even if you don't make it through, it probably won't even matter cause you'll have everyone in tears with you. I know I would be. It's just something about the personalization & the uniqueness in expressing our gut feelings to the one's we love!!!
Musikana,
Hats off to you as well for your originality & personal touch. I have every thing he's given me, but the only thing that stand out that I gave him is a card I made for Valentine's Day this year (and that's only cause it's still on the hard drive) The other thing is a card I bought that says:
When you have the right one,
You can see it in each others eyes
Feel it in each others touch,
Taste it in each others kiss.
When you have the right one, you do whatever it takes to hold on to them.
Thinking of incorporating that in the photo montage.
Pamcrow,
I feel you on the proofreading!!! I love my baby dearly, but uh..and that's all I have to say on that issue.
Girl I found some vows online. With a few changes such as adding our names , we are all set. lol

Ok, on the real? These are so beautiful & my time's so limited; I'm totally gonna use these! So I may throw a few of my own things in, but this is what I've been looking for. Call me lazy or whatever, time's of essence right now & it's something that I don't have alot of.
We're having a very formal christian ceremony and being both from the carribean, needless to say that the ceremony is long. Therefore, my FH and I decided to write our own vows to each other. We definitely plan on memorising them. Although, FH did say that he will write them out on index cards for back up.
Also, how did you guys get your counters to appear on your messages here. I've added the wedding ticker to our webpage, but I have no idea how to do the same here. Any ideas anyone?
Is anyone writing their own vows? If so, are you reading them off a paper or are you going to memorize them?

I actually wrote FH an email professing my love to him 6 months into our relationship and when I went back and reread it, it's perfect for my vows.
We discussed doing our own vows but DH is a man of few words and said he didn't want to think to much just wanted to show up and say "I do". Plus knowing me, I would have wanted to proof read what he wrote first.

We wrote our own vows, we memorized them. I did not cry when I was saying mine but when he was saying his vows to me I did cry.
