My mother asked me if I was going to get a different dress for the reception, and I told her that for the amount of money I paid for my wedding dress, I am going to wear that all night. She then went on to say that since the dress is so big, I would me more comfortable if I had a dress I could change into. I was just wondering if any of you ladies purchased a second dress?

HECK NO!!!!
As much as wedding dresses cost? Heck, you're lucky I don't sleep in mine, wear it the next day, & make it my outfit for formal night on a cruise.
If you have money to blow, then change it. Otherwise, I'd stay in it all night.

I've been putting much thought into this. I haven't purchased my dress yet. If I get the boutique owner to sell me the sample for the price we discussed I might look into a second dress because of the amount of $ I'll save. If I have to go regular (well a higher negotiated) price and order the dress I'll be in it all nite!
MrsR, you are cracking me up. But, I know exactly what you mean.
I am not changing into another dress. I will be just fine and comfortable in my gown.
At first I was going to get another dress too, but I changed my mind and I was fine in my dress all evening! You would think with as big as my gown was that I would have been uncomfortable, but I wasn't...

NOPE...I'm staying in my dress ALL NIGHT LONG....well at least until we get to the hotel room (tee-hee). While my dress has a train (this will be bustled up for the reception), the rest of the dress is form fitting (mermaid style, so it's not one of those princess dresses that has a whole bunch of material. Even if it was, like the others depending on how much I pay for it, I'll stay in it all night also...

Soon, have you posted your dress somewhere on the boards? I'm considering a similar style and would love to see what you chose.
To answer the topic question, I will be in my dress until FH begs me to take it off. (Tee and hee)

Hey Musik, I've tried and tried to find my dress, but according to the bridal shop this is some type of exclusive dress or whatever, so there are no pictures on the internet. I remember though a while ago you posted some pictures of possible dress choices for you, and they were a similiar cut to mine...I'll see if I can find your post and show you the one I'm talking about.....
Thanks Soon. Now that you mention it, I do remember you explaining the "exclusiveness" of your dress. PLease take a look and let me know.

Which sucks 'cause I've been wanting to show my dress SOOOO BAD on here!....anyway I'll look and show you the one most similiar...
Hey Musik, I couldn't find the posting with your dresses on it. I couldn't remember the original subject....
I was wondering the same thing. My wedding is this Saturday, June 30, so I will probably end up wearing my dress throughout the reception because I don't have time to find something else. My dress will also be bustled.

Actually I just found a dress very similiar to mine in another post. Go into the post labelled "How would you Feel" in the Brides Room section. The mermaid cut dress is basically like mine except there are no designs on the bust area and the back of the dress does not have the gathering that's in that picture.
I purchased two wedding gowns first then choose from the two. Lucky for me they were discounted. LOL!
Then I went to macys and got this cute all white linen dress knee length for the reception.
It was hot in JA shoot!!!
DH changed into a cute linen short set. He looked so handsome!
Introducng the new Mrs. Durrant!!!

I finally went into the thread and saw the dress. That's beautiful, I see exactly what you mean.
