Had No Idea

Okay, I took my wedding dress to the cleaners to be cleaned and preserved and I was floored when they told me the price.....$363. Can you believe that!! That's almost half of what I paid for the dress itself. Boy, they really get you coming and going with this wedding stuff. We can't catch a break no where.

Needless to say I took my dirty dress back home with me.

Pamcrow take a look at this link: http://www.momentsofelegance.com/catalog/traditional-wedding-gown-preservation-kit-p-29.html?osCsid=b39fc44457ff6aca84f3bd6423ad309f

My MOH used this company (she bought the kit for $200). She was really satified with the results.

Thanks for the info. Did your MOH do it herself? From reading the info on site you get the impression you need to send dress somewhere. I'm leary about doing that.

Yes she did have to send it off. They sent a prepaid shipping box for the dress. It is insured for $500 (she added extra insurance to cover the total dress cost).

They are based in Endicott, NY. I see you are in Upstate, NY. You may want to call and see if they have a drop-off option 800-305-3108. BTW, here is a link to the company that actually cleans the dress:

Re: Had No Idea

A coworker suggested I call where I bought the dress because more than likely I'd get a deal so I'm going to give that a try. The shop is almost an hour away but if the price is right, I'll take the drive.
Now that I think about it, she probably will be cheaper because she was one of two authorized dealers in my area for my wedding dress and she was like $300 cheaper than the other. The more expensive dealer was decorated all nicely, very upscale looking and her shop is just concrete floor & walls with racks full of dresses. Nothing fancy at all, but heck,I'll take nothing fancy anyday if it will save me $300. I'll have to give her a call.

Re: Had No Idea

I was going to suggest that becuase I know the place that I purchased my dress also gave me $150 towards a veil or tiara, they are storing my dress for free, and 2 free cleanings and pressing if I bought the dress from them....so definately chk with the place you purchased the dress from...
