I'm all for insurance. I made sure we had wedding insurance, my groom had an extra shirt, I had an extra dress, I invited my cousin who is a judge just in case the minister fell through...but this is something I didn't think about because I've been blessed with a strong bladder. I was intrigued, so I looked it up.
According to the Urban Dictionary...
Bridal Diaper
A diaper that is used when a wedding dress is to big or complicated to easily use the bathroom. Most brides who come in to the shop have never heard of a bridal diaper and are surprised to hear just how many we sell. It seems to be something not many brides talk about. but, there is many more in use than you would think
Some brides use "depends" others use adult bedwetting diapers. Some dressmakers are makeing Bridal diapers that mach your dress. other shops sell white covers that fit over a disposable diaper.
I guess if you gotta go, you gotta go! Me, I would rather a smaller, less complicated gown.
I've been reading various message boards about the topic and one person had the suggestion of a "Poise" pad in lieu of a diaper if someone really was concerned because it would be more comfortable dry or wet. I agree. ..a big, wet, saggy diaper has got to be uncomfortable. Then think about the odor. Either of these options still have to be changed.
I would also suggest just making up your mind to take mom and/or bridesmaids with you to the bathroom if the need arises.

Yeah... that's a NO! lol @ bridal diapers... srsly... i'm w/ you VIP, less complicated dress = no diaper.
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way. ~ Pablo Neruda
Gross! Hell no ...not even a thought! Oh yuck ...going to get the garter! Ewwww ...honeymoon! --Oh hold up bae, let me take this pamper off. Yuckado!
LOL-I'm with you on this Turiya...I would definetly PASS!!!!!! :)
Ladies, ladies, ladies...I truly enjoy this board and all that I have learned.
I had to share the topic with my FH and I don't even want to tell u ladies what he as a man had to say about "diapers". But, I will tell u the "clean part" of his reaction..he says that he would be calling the minister back to do a reversal if I even thought about having a soiled diaper on all thru our festivities all night and then expect for him to want to begin consummating on our honeymoon...or even getting the garter from earlier that evening..

"Clean part" LOL! Love it! I guess that was a "no pun intended."
As we say in the VI, "Well, sah!" You learn something new everyday...especially on this board.
I had the big poofy dress and I hiked that sucker up (with assistance from sis) and went. Sure it was uncomfortable, but I cleaned myself up and moved on. I didn't drink a lot of fluids though. The thought of going on myself is just gross. Give me a break....LA-a-zy to the woman who needs a diaper. I bet the people who buy them still end up going to the bathroom anyways!
See, I didn't want to say all that because suppose the bride is an older bride with incontinence issues. Then, that person would have to wear such items for accidents when she couldn't get to the bathroom.

LOL... then it's just every day wear and not a bridal diaper. But I get where you're coming from.

Your maid of honor has the honor of taking you to the bathroom and holding your dress up. The term "Attendants" is literal. I think wearing "poise" , as was previously mentioned, may be a better way to go so that if you have a sight accident you won't ruin your dress or your day having to suffer through wet crotch all night. Who want s to dance in a diaper though? Depends has some that are like huge maxi pads, so if somehow discovered you could play it off!
Make sure you go BEFORE you walk down the aisle. Would a priest pause for a bathroom break? hmmm. I have the weakest bladder in the world and always have to beg off doing things for Carnival because of the long lines. I wore poise one year and didn't need it but boy did it boost my confidence!
I think that I had stumbled on a bride's best kept secret. This is the first that I've heard of this. LOL Now I'm going to wonder about every bride I see that wears a big dress throughout the day.
Anyway, this sounds like a case where you would need to have a separate dress for the reception if you had already purchased a big gown. Those diapers can't be comfortable after awhile.
I'm late on this but EEEEUUUUUWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!! Now if you have a legitimate bladder problem, then of course...but then again if you have a legitimate bladder problem you might be wearing things like that on a consistent basis. BUT not just because you have a big dress or whatever.....man....I can't see how that would even be comfortable!....lol...
I agree, if there is a legitimate bladder problem, then a Poise, maxi pad, or Depends may be appropriate. But in my mind I was envisioning having on a Bridal Diaper for the sole purpose of not having to run to the bathroom and hike up your dress, and when you have to poo or pee, you just go on yourself (sorry, I am a visual learner, and thus express myself based on what I "en-vison" in my brain)....so thats why I reacted to that. That being said I have always had a bladder problem all my life. I also think I have a small bladder, but would hold it for hours at a time, and thus developed bladder infections in my teens and early 20's. So I have a history or bladder problems....So I can understand that, but when I get the urge, I go, and I am not going to wear a diaper, nor did I need to on my wedding day....BTW, I have had bouts of incontinence when I was younger, but per docs orders I strengthened those muscles via Kegels and haven't had those problems in the last 5-6 years either....! But Diapers for reasons other than severe incontinence is still beyond me!
If someone has a need for Depends, they will just buy it at Walgreens.
The odor from urine is not something you want guests to smell while
walking down the aisle.
What a graphic image Bumble! *shudders* I think it's just for "accidents" not just peing yourself and haning out in the wet diaper all night. lol
Welcome Joseph, but dude, have a heart! lol
I have heard of people using them. any thoughts?
I'm afraid to ask..but what are they? This is definitely something new to me.
