No Wedding Party?

Has anyone heard of a wedding having no wedding party? IMy sister had suggested that because I was an older bride, maybe I should skip that part.

Re:No Wedding Party?

Whether you have a bridal party or not shouldn't hinge on your age, but the amount of guests you are having.  If you are planning a wedding with a small number of guest, that is ideal for a intimate wedding ceremony without a bridal party.  But if you are planning a big bash, a bridal party would be missed. I think it's sweet whenever an older bride gets married and she has her daughter as a MOH to help her out.
There is nothing immature about having a bridal party. It's all about having the people you love standing by your side and looking sharp along with you on your big day.

Ok. Got it. At least these women can afford to be in the bridal party, too. Money is usually the main reason people opt out of being in your bridal party. I guess the MAIN reason is the ugly dress.

So Blessed to be in love and to be loved back.

If cost is an issue, maybe your girls can wear a black cocktail dress that they might already have.

I always thought that  black dresses brings out the colors of the bouquets.

As for my story, I find it hard to ask someone to spend money for my wedding and decided to set aside a $300 budget for the bridesmaids dresses. I avoided all things having to do with the bridal industry and had lucked into a clearance sale at Macy's. I had bought three of my bridesmaid dresses for about $60 each.  Then I went online for the third girl and bought an older style dress from the same maker for $30. My only mistake was buying the dresses too soon and over the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays. They were a bit tight on a couple of my girls once my wedding day rolled around, but everything was fine.
Here they are dancing around in the green dresses:

Re:No Wedding Party?

First of all your wedding dress is 2qt! Just love the lace and the matching ribbon tie. The maids look great. Dem dresses look expenisve. I would never guess $60. It was so classy of you to get the dresses for them. I know my girlfriends and their little black dresses will be too sexified for MY wedding (love ya Marjorie!). I will look into getting them the dresses. Thanks!

So Blessed to be in love and to be loved back.

How sweet of you guys to spring for your bridesmaids dresses. It's a vry thoughtful thing to do. Also if they hate the dress what can they sasy about it really? It was a gift! You win two ways.

I too was an older bride.  I got married at 43.  At first I was just going to have my best friend as my maid of honor; however I decided to include my sister-in law and her daugher to be my two brides maids.  I was strongly considering just walking down the isle alone.  I think it's really a personal choice.  There are really no hard fast rules...it's really about you and your hubby to be.  What ever you decide I'm sure it will be lovely.
