Weeeeeeeeell...it's about time for us to get started on getting our first house. I figured that blogging my wedding was such a huge help to me...so why not blog about our first house purchase?
Right now we are on square zero. I havent even seen any of the star players involved with the housing market. Havent seen any lenders to know our qualifications.
All that I know, I've read from this webpage:http://michaelbluejay.com/house/basics.html
And I have my eye on this cutie:

This is the first house that had excited me during my search. It's in our modest price range because the poor owner went off and took out most of the appliances, carpet, A/C compresser *whatever that is...it sounds expensive*, and hot water heater as he was being forclosed on. Growing up, I was used to my dad buying a house that needed to be fixed up, so this doesn't scare me all that much. However, when I spoke to a realtor and told her that we were first time buyers that are kinda wet behind the ears, she kinda scarred me abit.
Speaking of being scared, hubby is trying to start his graphic art business. I cant pinpoint exactly what the heck he wants to do. He doesn't take to kindly to criticism so he says very little. If whatever he wants to do keeps us in that lil' 1 bedroom longer than we need to be, he is in for a butt kicking.Anywhoo...that's where I am now.
Im placing us on a 2 year plan to be where we both want to go:
1. higher income *of course*
2. new house
3. pregnancy
Got my debt ticker fired off:

BTW, I'm not doing us any favors by giving us a trip to New York City in August. ...oops!
But I got such a good deal on plane tickets and hotel!! One thing I'll miss about renting a 1 bedroom apartment is pocketing all that money to spend on crap.
Um... okay, before the baby, we gotta have one last excursion in Ocho Rios at this B&B.

The pictures in Traveladvisor.com looks breathtaking! I don't remember these places when my parents took me.

Wow sister, there's nothing wrong with making a plan and sticking to it. The 2-yr plan sounds very logical to me and oh BTW, the water in Ochos Rios are so inviting!!! Have a blast, whenever it happened to you!!!
Hi Ginoue!
This is going to be the most ADD blog ever. LOL No telling how it will end up.
Some chump bought my house!!!!! AAAARRRRGGGGHHH!!!!

Alright. We are in a bidding war. I'll know by tomorrow afternoon whether or not we get the house.
Well....we didn't get the house. I was disappointed, it had a unique floorplan.
Anyway, We decided to take a small break from house hunting until we have more money saved.
For now, I'm going to post up some shots from the show "Real Housewives of New York". It seems like I'm the only person on this planet who likes Jill's apartment makeover. The gold, powder blue and white just illuminates the entire house.

Some "must haves" once I get a house. This list will be constantly updated:
some kind of wacky bookshelf:

Sleigh bed: This is #1 for both me and my husband. I love that we almost have similar tastes. *but he thinks Jill's apartment makeover is tacky*

Roman shades

A Banquette breakfast area:

These darned fridges cost 3 grand!

There is still a slight chance that this house will be back on the market. I'll have to give it an additional 45 days. Meanwhile, I'm still decorating it in my mind. LOL
I'm thinking about painting the chimney bricks white

I love the interior, but I don't like that the garage is right at the front door and that cars will be the first thing I would run into. This house will be quite a drive away from my parents, but hubby would love it because it's close to his job.

The kitchen looks small, but we really don't do a lot of cooking at home.
This is my only concern. Does a house that sits on something like this have any potential foundation problems?

With respect to the foundation, only your inspector can determine that. Definitely don't hesitate to work your realtor cause its your money girl! I am so happy about you and hubby taking this step!
I think the house is lovely. I love the windows and the views. The interior is definitely the bomb! As far as the kitchen, you can moximize space with good planning, and using some space-saving tips from a professional. But it doesn't look like a kitchen that really needs anything done to it.
Happy House hunting. If you aren't already, watch HGTV......So many ideas watching those shows on that channel for a day!

Hey, Butterbean
I know house hunting can be more stressful then wedding planning. Take your time and remember that sometimes the houses may look like crap until you make it your own. I bought a foreclosure that was very messed up but I had a vision for it. Now it's just great. I bought new carpet, and painted it myself. I just do a little at a time and I saved thousands of dollars. So don't be afraid to look for a diamond in the ruff.
Hi ladies,
I was actually hoping for a foreclosed fixer upper. My dad worked in construction and had fixed up all of the houses we have ever lived in, but the biggest nightmare would be to have a house with foundation troubles. That's why I liked the second house so much. It was marked down for a steal with only a few cosmetic things to correct. *sigh*
I love the last house, but then again, I'm not digging the front-door parking.
Talk about placing the cart before the horse, I'm just dying to throw our housewarming party. I've got the perfect wording with some copywright infringement going on here and there. LOL:
Housewarming invitation
We've bought our first house and have found that to make this house a home, these ingredients are key:
lots of love,
plenty of laughter,
and the presence of family and friends!
Please help us break in our backyard by joining us for our housewarming party!
Saturday, Month 23rd 20000
2pm - 6pm
123 My NewHouse Street
Dallas, Texas
(555)555-6792
Barbeque, deserts and c0cktails will be served.
Hubby and I will also find out how our top tier wedding cake will taste after rotting in my parents' freezer for (however long it has been in that freezer)
Hope to see you there!

Bumblebee, my favorite show right now is Property Ladder on TLC. I love how they get these first time house flippers and make every mistake possible. At the same time, it's a mood killer because it brings to reality how much money and energy it would take for me to renovate a house.
Right now, I'm sorta feeling this house:
I'm not all that hyped about it because a) it does have foundation problems b) the front isn't all that....

and c) the living area too small and enclosed...

What I love about it is...
the stairs...

....and the breakfast area..

....it would be perfect to change into a banquette:

Here is ourA latest conquest.A It's in a beautiful neighborhood, but the place needs a lot of work, which my family and IA are prepared for. Every home I've lived in had been a foreclosed fixer-upper.
I've got a lot of plans for this room. Starting with that awful cieling
That stained glass whatever is going down too.
congrats on the new place! I love the color story you had with your dream rooms. That pass through with the stained glass really is strange. lol. Save the stained glass cabinet doors if you can. It will be gorgeous hanging in a in a garden or some other place where light can filter through it.
We are moving into an inherited property in a not so hot neighborhood, but it is a historic home. To say that it is a fixer up is an understatement. It is more of a money pit. lol
