Okay ladies, I need your help.
My FH, who will officially be the stepfather to my two kids, is wanting to present them with something during the ceremony to somewhat say " I am making a promise to you on this day to be what you need me to be as long as we live" (I cried when he told me that he wanted to do that)
Anyways, I'm doing my programs and originally called it "Unity Of Family". but I thought about it and I dont think that name fits what it really is. So if anyone have any suggestions that would be great.
What would you call it ???

It depends on what will be presented during that part of the ceremony. Some of my clients choose to do a "Sand Ceremony" reflecting the blending of the two families together. Some have even opted to present the children with jewelry
Your FH could do his vow to your children right after he does his vows to you and the program can just state "Exchange of Vows" or if you don't like that, then what about "Family Vows" or "Family Promise".
"I'm a work in progress, God is not through me yet"
Me & DH did this with my son and we called it our "Blended Family Ceremony" and he presented my son with a family medallion necklace which is a circle with 3 rings interlocked together. It is ironic because it is just the 3 of us now so it worked out perfect...and everyone that attended our wedding loved this part of the ceremony
OH, I close this window too quickly.
What you're looking for is called a "Children's Ceremony", in which the parent to be pledges his/her love for the child (ren). As a symbol of this pledge, a gift of love and unity is presented to each child during the ceremony. Also, this is an opportunity for your photographers to capture another precious moment of your wedding ceremony
Great ideas Ladies. Thanks so much.
Ginoue, its going to be a peice of jewelry that he presents to them. He wants it to be something in the shape of a circle to symbolize completion

CMT, you have yourself a wonderful guy! I think that is really special. My hubby and I did something similar at our wedding as well. We presented our daughter with a ring (placed on her right finger). There was not a dry eye in the place. It was one of the highlights of our wedding.
I like PamCrow's suggestion: Family Promise or to piggy back of of that it could be "Promise Ceremony". In any event let us know what you decide.

Well, for my daughter he wanted to do a charm braclet and for my son he wants to do an engraved dog tag chain. and every year on our anniversary he's going to add a charm to my daughters braclet and give my son a new dog tag for his chain. He says whenever they wear them it will remind them of the promise he made to them.
But I didnt think about the family medallion. Thats a good idea. I'm gonna make mention of that and and see what he says. But since this is his thing he's doing, I'm kinda letting him make the calls on this one.

Yes Rhony, he's a great guy. I can honestly say that I am truely blessed to have him as a husband. Okay, let me stop. I can go on and on about him. I just get exited when I think of him. LOL
Anyways, he want to do this after our ring ceremony and before the lighting of the unity candle. He says his promise is not only to me but to them also. So I think Promise ceremony will be a perfect name for it.

Rhony, I love "Promise Ceremony". I might even borrow that idea for another bride I'm working with.

PamCrow, pat yourself on the back -- the idea originated from you!
