Hey everybody, I've been keeping quiet about this for a while now, but I need all the prayers I can get! Some of you may or may not know that I'm a runner, I also plan on getting certified as a personal trainer. I've already registered for the classes in September and I'm currently studying the book now.
Anyway about 4 months ago my inner thigh started hurting. Around that time I was training for a race and also training some other folks to run their first race, so I just assumed it was some type of strain or pull from all the running i was doing. I went to and orthopedic doctor. He assumed the same thing and prescribed me 2400 mg of Ibuprofen a day and 3 weeks of physical therapy. While I was doing all of this my lower back started hurting and I started feeling a prickling sensation going up and down my leg. Okay now I'm getting really nervous because instead of things getting better they seemed to be getting worse. So now he had me go to a spine specialist to see if a nerve was being pinched or something was out of alignment, I had an EMG test done and Nerve Conduction test done, I had xrays of my spine, all that came out normal. So now I'm REALLY praying hard for God to show me what's going on because I'm in some serious pain and soemtimes can't sleep throughout the night.
One day while I was praying a thought just came to me. About 5 years ago I had to have fibroid surgery because they were growing really big and effected my bladder and other things. I started thinking what if this could be the cause of all this distress. Me being the google queen I got on the internet and pulled up everything regarding fibroid, leg pain, nerve impingement, and to my surprise pages of links came up saying that depending on how big the fibroid is and where it's growing can definitely cause it to irritates nerves which can have pain going up and down your leg, it can cause back problems, it can shift your pelvis among other things. So now I'm running to my gyno, he chked me just this past Monday and said yes, it's because of the fibroids that all of this is happening.
Now I need your prayers on several things. First he stated that the fibroids are growing in a really weird and difficult place to operate and he mentioned the "H" word, that I'm binding right now in the name of Jesus because I have not had kids yet, BUT he said that since he's been doing surgeries he's never had to take a uterus out that wasn't supposed to be coming out. Secondly I just learned yesterday that he is booked up surgery-wise until September!! There's NO WAY I can take this pain for another 3 months!! He gave me some more medication on top of the Ibuprofen, he gave me Oxycodone which can be addictive and not to mention it makes me sleepy so I can only take it at night. There's NO WAY I'm going to be taking that time of medication for a whole three months. I've been taking medication now for the 4 months I"ve been going through this and I'M SICK OF IT!
Also as mentioned above I take the certification classes in September and I'm supposed to be in tip-top shape when that come around, not just recovering from a surgery!
So please pray that if it's God's will that he removes these fibroids. But if I have to go through with the surgery pray that it would be the surgery with the robotic arm that has a recovery of about a week instead of the surgery I had originally (basically a c-section) that takes 4 to 6 weeks to heal. Also please pray that they can get me in much sooner then the September date.....sorry for the long post ladies....and thank you SO much for your prayers!

Well I have an update on this posting. I had my surgery on July 11th, they removed a total of 9 fibroids. The one that was giving me the most trouble was the one pressed against the nerve in my pelvic area. Not only was it pressed against the nerve causing pains to go up and down my leg, it also damaged the fallopian tube on that side so it had to be detached. It was supposed to be an outpatient surgery but because of the severity of my fibroids, my temparature and my body just not getting back to normal quick enough I stayed in the hospital for 3 days. I was out on Short term disablity from work for 4 weeks and just got back on this past Monday. I want to thank everyone that said a prayer for me. I just ask for your continous prayers that God would have these fibroids STOP GROWING! This is my second surgery I WILL NOT have another one in the name of Jesus! So again I thank you....
Well there you go!
Plus, a late Happy Anniversary to you girl!

Praise GOD for your recovery and deliverance! I will continue to pray for your health-and that this WILL BE the LAST surgery!!
And...Happy belated anniversary!!!!!!!!!
I had my surgery on July 11th, they removed a total of 9 fibroids. It was supposed to be an outpatient surgery but because of the severity of my fibroids, my temparature and my body just not getting back to normal quick enough I stayed in the hospital for 3 days.
Like I mentioned I have had this same problem before. I had them for over 20 years before I got the first set removed. The pain is so unbelievable, especially when you are on your period. No one knows exactly what causes them and why black women get them more than other people. Hormones trigger them so that is something you should check with your doctor.
I improved my diet by eating primarily organic fruits and vegetables and whole grains. I avoided fats, eggs, cheese and other dairy products, started exercising regularly for the first time in my life, and avoided coffee. I lost 20 pounds over six months, and my fibroids got smaller along with the rest of me. I've never felt better in my life.
Be proactive and they won't even return!

Thank you Rosetta for your suggestions. The thing is I eat well. The only thing I definitely will try to look into is the organic foods. The stuff they spray, feed, and inject into the animals and the veggies we eat HAS to have something to do with it. My dr. said that they used to see things like this in women in their late 30's and 40's. He said now they see huge fibroids in women starting in their 20's now. I had my first sugery when I was 26....my sister had one at 25. Genectics definitely is a big factor in this also.....my mother had them and she says she believes her mother had them but didn't know what they were. She says she just remember her mother being in intense pain at times during the month but of course back then they didn't have the technology and the knowledge to know what was going on. It's crazy....
Happy belated anniversary SOON!!! And I'm sure we're all in prayer agreement when I say that there will not be another surgery. God has taken care of your fibroids forever.

I definetly agree about the genetics! I have fibroids also--my mom, both of her sisters, my grandmother and all of her sisters have all had to have hysterectomies due to female complications. I actually had an endometrial ablation which didn't help me at all so the hysterectomy is my only avail option now.

What is it with this thing?!!! Makes me so upset that otherwise very healthy women have to go throw serious surgeries like hysteroctomys, myomectomys, lapriscopies, and any other type of sugery or procedure to try and get rid of these stupid fibroids. Scarring up our uterus, marking up our bodies, not to mention the pain before and the pain after! Makes no sense and I'm sick of it. I pray every day, I anoint my body, my stomach and ask God to protect my womb on a daily basis! The enemy is trying to use something that is supposed to "non-threatning" to sneak up on us and take what God equpped our bodies for! Doctors don't know where they come from, why they grow...nothing! It's time to cover our bodies ladies and pray that God will bring up someone to figure out why this is such a big thing, especially among African American women!
I'm glad to hear everything went well with your surgery. You are in my prayers.
I also have fibroids, and when I was pregnant with my daughter I really felt the pain. I was in the hospital for 2 days because I was in so much pain to the point I wanted them to take the baby out at four months but they told me she would not survive and they wouldn't.
I have not felt any pain(knock on wood) since I had my daughter and she is six now. And I give GOD all the praise for that. AMEN.
I touch and agree with you 100% soontobe!!
Praises be to God for your deliverance Sen!

Well Thank you Lord! I have heard where sometimes your fibroids grow when you're pregnant and in some cases disintegrate after you have the child. Anyway we pray you will NEVER have anymore pain from your fibroids.
You know, I LOVE being a woman. I even wrote a poem about it once. :o) But wow...the things we have to go thru. I feel it's so much more than what men go thru, especially with our bodies...from all the different ailments, to the painful barbaric tests (MAMMOGRAM!), to the surgeries. Hm, hm hm. With all that we go thu, all I have to say is, that whenever you have the opportunity to celebrate your life, celebrate it like nobody's business. Live like nobody's business! Laugh like nobody's business. Love like nobody's business! Everyday that you're alive and healthy is a good day. Don't take it for granted. "Live, Laugh, Love" that's my motto and I'm about to post it in our living room.

I had fibroids in my late teens. If you have any native american blood there is some thought that their natural aversion to dairy manifests itself as fibroids. Fibroid tumors are actually weird muscle like mounds of flesh and the attract blood. SO when pregnant with all the excess hormones and blood/fluid gin, they increase in size, leading to greater pain as was the case with sensationablyhappy. Her doctors may have removed them. They will shrink some but they won't go away, according to several of my doctors. I have had a whopping 14 doctors to deal with this specific problem. With my daughter one of the five fibroids I had was actually BIGGER than she was in the womb. I had no pain during my pregnancy at all.
