Reception response cards

Hey ladies,

Does anyone have a sample response card for a reception where you're going to be doing seating. One where you need to know exact names of guests. And one that makes it clear that if it doesn't say "and guest" don't bring anybody extra.

I'm trying to design/word mine (DIY, thanks to you ladies' persuasion).

I don't know if I should write the number of invited guests on the blank line before I mail it out or what. I'm scared that if I do it that way what if I invite two people (i.e. husband/wife) and write the number 2 on the blank line, but then only one of them can attend. I kinda don't want them to think they can just go ahead and fill that extra spot with some other random person.

Re: Reception response cards

Generally when you address the cards whomever you addressed them to are the individuals being invited. So if it's addressed the Gallegher Family and they consist of two adults and two children then that's who is invited (the family at that address- not the entire clan! LOL). If it's a dating couple and its Maria Lopez and John Smith then that's who is invited amd etc.

Re: Reception response cards

Keithsbride, do you remember our sister's response cards? I think it was futuremrskeepup. I'm not sure. On her response cards, she said something like________ out of 2 or whatever number in that family.

I think that's a great way to do it because it let that person know that under no circumstances are they allowed to bring in extra people if you told them how many you're expecting. I think that it's the most civil way to handle it.

Good luck to you sister. From one South Floridian to another, I know that my invitation will be sent first, right? (Just kidding Diva!!!) I wanted you to breathe and relax and this is my way of doing it.

Re: Reception response cards

Thanks ladies!!! Ginoue, that's a grrrrreaaaatttt way of wording the cards!!! I wish I could see a sample of her cards.

Next question: Are you ladies inviting the significant others' of bridal party members? If so, where are you drawing the line? I mean, are you inviting significant others of, perhaps, 3 months or more or something like that?

Re: Reception response cards

I did invite my matron's husband. I asked my entire wedding party if they wanted their boyfriends and girlfriends there but they all said no.
I think that me and FH have made a love connection between the members of our wedding party. They have all gotten so close. Our MOH and one of the BM have even went on a couple dates. (she will be catching the bouquet I guess LOL)

I have a cousin who is a BM she is 18 and her BF treats her like crap so even though she cried begged me to invite him I smiled and told her no.

I think the only way I would invite a significant other of a bridal party is if I knew them personally or they have been together for at least a year.

Re: Reception response cards

Keithsbride my RSVP card is in my blog (KeepUp's Blog). There should be no confusion the way I have it worded!

I would only invite significant others I know personally. Since I'm only having a cocktail reception though it really doesn't matter! HTH!

I'm only inviting significant others that we personally know, those that are married and those that have been dating for more than a year, otherwise, I will not be inviting their significant others.

Re: Reception response cards

Keithsbride I know you probably already sent off your invites but for people who haven't here is some words of advice: On the RSVP card definitely write down peoples names. I have gotten back about 50 response cards some with no name or return address others who don't even check off will attend or will not attend. You probably can't prevent the checking off but at least if they don't check off anything you will know who they are because you wrote their name on the RSVP card and you can call them. Maybe you may want to try putting circle instead of check off maybe people like shapes better. When my planner recieves one with no name she calls me and she has been calling me all week. So make it easy on yourself and write the names in. Hope this helps

I numbered my RSVP cards. I received one bak with no name and n=knew instantly it was Aunt Pat! LOL! A small number in the corner of each postcard has been a lifesaver!

I prefer Mrskeepup's idea of numbering the RSVPs. It's suttle and classy and no one would know what it means but you.

Gerat idea Keepup. I think I'll do that for my respond cards.

OKAY... This may be a dum question, but here it goes. LOL
How do I ask someone to be an honored guest at my wedding? I was thinking of putting an insert into their invitation. Is that tacky? should I contact them personally? What do you ladies think?

Re: Reception response cards

cmt,
I have some honored guests at my ceremony but I called them and asked them it was more personal and my great aunt even cried and said how thankful she was to be an honored guest. A call would be a little more personal I think.

The numbers may work but just make sure important people are not numbered pass 100 because I know people will feel some type of way thinking oh I was number 220 on her list. i guess I don't need to be there.

I think the numbering system is great but if the recipient knows about it , you are right, they may feel offended to be far down on the list. To get around this though, you just have to be more creative in your numbering system. For example, write "BA12" which could mean bride's 12th guest from the "A" list or "GC5" which could stand for the fifth person on grooms "c" list.

Re: Reception response cards

I numbered the back of the response card in the event that I couldnt understand my guest handwriting. I am now starting to get my responses back. Everyday more and more are coming in the mail, However they are coming one or two at a time. My fh is so ready send out the second batch of invitations. I told him that we have to wait until the deadline that we gave the guest before we invite more people.

Mrs080908,
you are absolutely right. I'm sure a call would make it that much more special to them. Thanks

house this is how my responses were coming in too 1 day I would get 1 or 2, another day I would get 0, and when it was getting close to the dead line I was getting 6 or 7 at a time.

Re: Reception response cards

I also wrote very tiny, I mean tiny, numbers on the back of the cards thinking that people wouldn't even notice. One cousin commented that he sent his back and he was number such and such. I don't think that guests should let it ruffle their feathers if they notice a number, and they are not sure exactly what it means. I know on our list, guests were not listed in order of importance.
