I hate the term: New Years Resolutions....
So what are you wanting to happen in 2009?
Me:
1. My husband and I are doing a Daniel fast and an Esther fast for the month of January. I prayed last night that we get closer to God and he woke up and showed me our Church's website with instructions for the fast. I am VERY excited!!! But I only have 2 days to prepare cause we start on Saturday: No red meat, tea, coffee (OMG), sweets, and 1 night a week of no media (tv, music, etc)....He could have given me a week to prepare but oh well.....
2. My crazy husband on his day off the other day pulled all my junk out of a closet I had put off cleaning up thus forcing me to start my cleaning early...Yay! God answers prayers!!! Boo cause my husband's timing is always off!
3. I started working out again.....
4. I'd love to see us actually getting closer to buying a home via increased savings, and I want an IRA (too many emergencies in 2008: medical, funeral expenses, etc)
So already I am seeing God move in my and my husbands spiritual life and our married life....Even if the timing isn't always on MY time...
Maybe in March we can update and see how things go with our plans for 2009.
What do you want to happen this year?
What went right in 2008? (for me working out again and even those few pounds I lost and kept off has been great-a major accomplishment of 2008.)

Happy New Year Ladies!
My new year's goals are to:
1. Become more organized.
2. Save more money
3. Spend more quality time with hubby which includes taking more vacations
4. Lose weight and lead a healthier lifestyle
5. Buy our first home
6. Read my bible more
7. Brush up on my driving skills (haven't driven since my car accident a few years back)
I think that about sums it up.
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37
I think my goals are pretty modest
1. See my 2nd child to College (He's graduating in June)
2. Save more money (Want to buy a Home in a few years)
3. Spend more quality time with my family
4. Get a little closer to God.
These are great!
Can't wait to see more responses...hey did anyone accomplish any of their 2008 Goals? Making progress? Re-vamping 2008 goals to fit for 2009?
We've been Happily Married 2 Years and Counting:)

I only had one for 2008 ~ I wanted to see my daughter in College and I did. So, I'm okay.
My 2009 goals are as follows:
1. Improve on my relationship with God
2. Save more money
3. Spend more quality time with FH
4. Lose weight (Have to start working on the post-baby weight if I want to look fabulous for my wedding day)
For 2008 I prayed to God to give me more patience and love to be able to deal with FMIL and her issues (bcos it must be hard for her to have had to let go of her only son). While this is a work in progress I'm happy to say we spent a nice and happy Christmas day with FH's family - goes to show what prayer can do.

DeeLove, I definitely believe in the power of prayer, glad things are working for you!
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37
My goals are:
1. To stay spiritually grounded! I am running into so many people with so many issues that can easily distract me if I don't stay focused.
2. Spend more "quality" time with my husband; we spend time, but we both lead such hectic lives that the quality has somewhat fizzled; to get back more of the "when we first met" things: cuddling, watching a movie etc..we also both made an agreement to be more faithful in attending our Marriage Takes 3 classes held every month at our church to enhance our Marriage reltionship the way God intends for it to be!
3. Live life more freely! I am a very detailed oriented person and I am always striving for "perfection" I realize that I need to sometimes allow things to not always be "perfect" and just focus on living a "happy" life
My goals are:
1. Develop a stronger relationship with God.
2. Stick with my workout regimine (yoga & jogging).
3. Eat right at home(and stop dining out so much)
4. Refinance our mortgage to a lower interest rate.
5. Sign up for an Roth IRA.
I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.
Delight yourself also in the Lord & He shall give you all the desires of your heart.-Psalm 37:4
My 2009 goals are to:
1. Spend less,save more.
2. Find more time for me.
3. Eat healthier
I don't even remember what my 2008 goals were. Shameful, smh.
"I'm a work in progress, God is not through me yet"
my goals for 2009 are...
saving alot more
for me and DH to take care of our debts
lose weight/eat alot healthier/exercise more combo
care for myself more (always helping everyone before myself)
find more things to do with the kids that are different from their everyday life.
spend more time with my family in and out of state
This year I want to
1. Develop a better relationship with god.
2. Be more forgiving
3. Spend more time with my family
4. Finish payinfg of my cards (I am half way there!)
5. Prepare for motherhood LOL
I always like towrite a list about the things that I accomplished last year as well so I
1. Spent lots of time with my mom before she died
2. Paid off half of my charge accounts
3. Didnt create any new debts
4. developed an awesome relationshop with God

Oh yeah, I did get all my credit card debt paid off last year. It wasn't much, but I was dragging my feet on it and I got it paid off early in 2008! My FICO score just topped 800 a couple months ago! I guess I didn't think about that...I do have 1 credit card, and by putting a little on it here and there, then paying the whole thing off every month, or paying at least 150.00/month helped boost my score while getting my credit in order...

You go sis! That's the way to do it. Have you thought about joining an investment club? A few friends and I started one a while back. It's been a great learning experience for me.

That is awesome. My goal is to live debt free. I am paying off the rest of my cards and then I am done with credit. I will leave the accounts open just to have a history though but I have a lot of work to do. Student Credit cards are a beast. LOL

Get closer to God
Learning how to love myself again
Improving my financial situation
Work out more often
Grow longer, stronger, healthier hair (Stress did a number on mine)
Buy my own truck before October 2009.

Plat, I'm sorry to hear that about your marriage, but I wish you the best. I'm sure this is something you've prayed on, and you're doing what's right for you and your marriage.

Thanks ya'll. But I still look at DH's debt as my debt too so we are grinding. I was just talking to a co-worker who has some debt and another co-worker suggested that since she is still single (well she has a serious BF) and has no kids that she get a second job. I seconded that motion because she was saying that she felt very overwhelmed by the whole thing. I have a second job that doesn't pay much, but all of it goes towards paying down the rest of our debt. All that we want left is my student loan (which is huge but is in deferment at this time).
That way when the debt is finally paid off that will free up the rest of that money to go towards a house. It is weird to have good credit, decent jobs, but to have all that money going towards credit cards and student loan is frustrating. We can barely move into a better apartment because our budget is pretty tight. But thats cause we are trying to get this debt paid down fast. Which is why we haven't done any big investments yet....DH is looking for another job but I am not sure if its a second job or a totally different one. However for many a second job does the trick. Dave Ramsey's Pastor came to our church a few months ago, saying he had it all: The house, the car(s), the luxury vacations, boat, etc...Plus 800,000.00 debt to show for it! He got three jobs, his wife got 2 and in 5 years they paid it all off!
I was telling my co-worker that and she made a million excuses. When I told her to think of how she'd feel debt-free, she felt the extra work may be worth it....That may be an answer for many in 2009. If I could work a third job I would. Tropical Smoothie is hiring right now and I was considering working there too. Even if for 2 days a week! Hey its an extra check....! Call me crazy but I am convined God wants his people to be debt free! Completely!

Thank you for your encouraging words, Ladies. I'm just not feeling my marriage now. Who knows what the future holds, maybe it will work out. In the meantime, I just continue to pray for guidance.
This past weekend, I decided to treat myself to a belated birthday gift. I got my hair braided and my tongue pierced. :-P
Congratulations on improving your credit score, Bumblebee.

Ooh tongue pierced!?!
Sexy....My mom got her belly button pierced a year ago, and she is 53! I was sooo excited. I think piercings are sexy...I guess that makes me a heathen?!?!
Tattoos too....Double heathen I guess.....but so!

Thanks, Bumble and Rhony! I'm looking for a "Side-Hustle" to try to make some extra $$$ to get the truck. I'm starting from almost zero right now (as far as savings) and depending on where I buy and the price, I'm looking at needing $5,000 to $15,000 down payment.

I don't know if this is for you Plat, but I was listening to NPR the other day and they said that Mary Kay enrollement has increased dramtically in the last 6 months. They interviewed many new consultants and the response from one older woman was that after losing her job after like 12 or 15 years no one would hire her at her age and salary. So she can devote 100% of her time to Mary Kay.
Many women who have part time gigs or full time jobs struggle in MK, but if you are not working statistics show that you can make 50K in a year. PLUS. They are doing Pink Escalades now:)
I used to do it and made like 100-200/hour but it wasn't my passion so I let it go. I was only working a couple hours a week but every second I put into it I got over 100% return on my investment. I recommend it as a side hustle to anyone willing to put in the time and can appreciate its awesome products. I still use MK products to this day and as a former consultant, I can easily get back in the business for less money, even if its to buy a couple hundred dollars of products for myself for the year at cost.

Hey, Bumble. MK sounds good but I really don't have much time to devote to it though. It would be difficult especially in my line of work. Thanks for the suggestion.
