I planned to have my two nieces who are close to my age and my soon to be sister in law be my bridesmaids. I asked my sisters who are much older to be my hostesses. My eldest sister flew into a tantrum about not being picked. My FH has only three close friends and I feel that you do not ask for a place in anyone's wedding. I do not want to hurt anyone as I love them dearly but I feel in this situation my wishes should prevail. Thoughts. Help please.

Mycenae it is your day and it all depends on what you want...My oldest sister told me she did not want to be in the wedding at all so I found someone else... it should not matter about anybody else feelings this is your day they should be happy that you would like them to share in this day with you and your FH

Thank you. I was amazed that my sister even throw a tantrum. I always felt that you either politelu accept or decline any position the bride offers you and that's that. Thank you for your advice.

Your sister was being out of control but then again thats how family is. They think that automatically they are going to be in your wedding when that may not be the case. My FSIL invited herself to be my Matron of Honor! and the thing is she didnt ask me she asked my FH,who did the right thing in telling her that whoever we decide to be in the wedding will come from our own decsions and not by others influences. Your day is all about you and your FH,WHO CARES IF YOUR SISTER IS MAD? She has to get over it!
You are so right, you chose those who you all feel should be in it. They have to take your decision since it is YOUR DAY! See those are the reasons we are getting married on a cruise.

Thanks ladies. I am in shock that she even acted that way. I gave All of her children the choice roles in the wedding. I thought that is want mattered. I want her to help me pick my dress and everything but if she keeps this up I will have to exclude her. She keeps saying "I" and "me." It is not about her!
