I SAW THIS ON EBAY (ANOTHER SLEEPLESS NIGHT) AND THOUGHT OF YOU.
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way. ~ Pablo Neruda
Oh Future that is so beautiful!!!! Yes, I am jumping the broom. What did you search under for the broom? It is absolutley love it. I would change the flowers though. Girl, please keep the posts coming. Thanks a million!!

That broom is gorgeous! I ordered mine from ebay too!I got it with burnt orange ribbon and asked her to shorten the skirt to see the broom. I got it 2 weeks ago and we love it. PB&J's wedding broom
I just went broom shopping over the weekend, didn't find much I liked but I love this one. I never considered ebay for much but now I will give them a chance. Thanks for sharing.
Is anyone else jumping the broom? My FH doesn't like the idea of jumping the broom (feels its too outdated and complains that he isn't a slave or somthing he was hemming and hawing about-he crazy anyway)....Anyone going through something similar?
Not sure how I missed your question Askalot but yes it comes with the skirt. The picture shows it covering the broom but I had her to cut it a little so that we can see some of the bottom of the broom.
Hi Ladies, I'm trying to find a great explanation of jumping the broom. I thought that we had discussed this before but can't seem to find the post. If you all find something that explains it that can be read during the ceremony please let me know, thanks!

I found it PB&J! All I could remember was the post had something about ancestors in it, so I searched for Ancestors on the forum. Here is what I wrote:
The jumping of the broom is a symbol of sweeping away of the old and welcoming the new, a symbol of a new beginning. During slavery, our ancestors sought the legitimacy of marriage by jumping over the broom. For our ancestors, this small ritual was a legal and bonding act connecting them with the heritage of their homeland and gave legitimacy, dignity and strength to their union. It is said that the spray of the broom represents all of us scattered and the handle represents the almighty who holds us together. Today Mr and Mrs. SuchandBlah have chosen to honor their ancestors by jumping the broom.
I timed out just this portion and it was 35 seconds long when I said it out loud.

I attended a wedding saturday and on the back of the program was the jumping the broom and the sand ceremony. The sayings about the two are listed below:
Jumping the Broom
Jumping the broom is a ceremony in which the bride and groom signify their entrance into a new life and their creation of a new family by symbolically "sweeping away" their former single lives, former problems and concerns, and stepping over the broom to enter upon a new adventure as husband and wife.
The Blending of the Sand Ceremony
The blending of the sands symbolizes the unification of the family. Each family member will have their own individual vial and color of sand. As we blend owr sands toether it symbolizes the bride, groom, and other family members such as children becoming one as a family. Just as these grains of sand can nver be separated and poured again into the individual containers,so will our marriage and family never be separated.
