What have you ladies decided? We were going to do both...until last night when we were crunching numbers :(
Now we're only having one. Most likely a DJ.

We are actually having 2 seperate d.j's, one to play american music, the other African music. We are also blessed to not have to pay for either! The father of my FH's niece is a professional D.J, he will do the american music, and a friend of our family who's a d.j, will do the African music...

Why are you always so fortunate? (just a lil' hatin' ;) )
Please do some of your praying for us!

Child that ain't nothing but God!! I give him ALL of the glory on this becuase he is TRULY blessing us and I know there is more to come!! I pray for all the vibride sisters, their upcoming wedding and the newlyweds all the time! Ask Him what want you need...trust and believe that he can do it..(and He will do it if it's His in his plan)..sit back and watch what he can do!

I also am not a fan of bands. We're having an entertainment group at ours. They will involve the guests & keep the party flowing.
Have you looked into this? The price difference may shock you.
The DJ we have chosen specializes in wedding djaying, and he gave us some samples of the things that he does to keep the people involved (games, activities, and some alternatives for clinking on your glass= new couple kiss) him along with my coordinator should be able to handle that department.
I have to be honest though, I really was looking forward to having a band play some instramental pieces at the start of the c ocktail hour. I feel like I have to miss out on what I really want because of trying to 'slim' down the overwhelming cost of the whole wedding.
I lucked up as well. My uncle and Fh are both dj's so for my uncle's wedding some years ago Fh dj'd as apart of our wedding goft. My uncle had a really mixed crowd and everyone loved him. There was absolutly no hip hop. even though fh and I both can tolerate a little of it. So my uncle is returning the favor for our wedding

I love the idea of having both, but unfortunately my bank account refuses to cooperate. With that said I will be having a dj.

We're having a DJ. I like the idea of having a band (live music from the right band is AWESOME) but the DJ our best option, financially.
Born Blessed!
I'm having a DJ. I'm not that crazy about bands.
It's a matter of choice. We had had a DJ and had a ball getting our dance on!
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37

We're doing live music for cocktail hour (a jazz trio) and a DJay for the remainder of the reception.
