My sister went to the $1.00 store and bought such items as, candles, lip stick cases with mirrors, champagne glasses (which she decorated with ribbons). She also bought magnets, blank diary's and aprons (which she decorated herself) and gave them away as prizes for the games that were played.

Is the bridal shower supposed to be a surprise or what? I'm new to this & it's my first time around. What's the etiquette surrounding these things?

That's up to you & your bridal party. Do you want it to be a surprise? If your bridal party is hosting it, they are usually the ones that take care of favors and other party needs.
You take a picture of yourself to walmart and they will scan it and put it on the gift card. It only cost 88 cents extra for them to add your picture and I purchased some ten dollar gift cards.

House, I didn't know you can get personalized gift cards from Walmart! That's wonderful.
I love that gift card idea. How do you get your picture on the gift card?
