Hey yall, I just wanted to tell you all about the bride/groom outing that happened on this past Saturday. Our church (like most churches) requires pre-marital counseling and included in that the wedding coordinator for our church takes all the bride and grooms for 2007 out for a Saturday. She called me up last week and said that me and my FH will need to be at the church at 9:30. I said okay where are we going, what do I need to wear, what are we going to do? She said it's a surprise but dress nice. Anyway we get there, and meet everyone that's getting married that year. Our church is really big so it was nice to see who all was getting married. She had the men go in the sanctuary, she pinned flowers on us, and told us to go out in the front of the church with our FH. We went out and there were 2 limos out there waiting for us. We were like "WELL ALRIGHT NA!!".....but we still didn't know where we were going, the limo driver wouldn't even tell us. Anyway we ended up at this VERY nice restaurant on one of the FROO-FROO sides of Charlotte. They closed the resturant down for just us, they fed us breakfast (that thang was GOOOOOD!) We introduced ourselves, played the newlywed game, did a couple of get to you know other couple games. It was really fun.....they also gave us as gifts toasting glasses and gift certificates to bridal shops, or party shops! It was really nice and we had a VERY good time! I just wanted to share....

What a wonderful way to spend your weekend! It's great to hear you had a nice time, and lots of privacy, with the resturant being closed.
Sounds interesting and I love the Newly Wed Game!
Each One Teach One!
Oh, soon, it sounds like your day was very nice. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. What a nice idea from your church!
Yes it was.....we had a very good time!
That is SUCH a good idea. It must be a blessing to be part of church that cares so about each individual couple. And you got to (better) know other couples that were getting married! I LOVE surprises. Even better I LOVE breakfast. I may copy and paste your experience into an e-mail and FWD it on the the appropriate people. More churches should do this. Gland you had a good past weekend!
And you best believe that breakfast was slammin'....grilled chicken, grilled salmon, grits, eggs, fruit, french toast, muffins and other pastries...(man...I'm hungry) We did have a very good time and came home with some nice stuff. Like stated before I'm apart of a very big church, so my Pastor and the leaders of the church do all they can to try and make the church small. We have thing like zip code ministries. That's where people in your similiar zip code meet and do things together. I have lived less then 5 mins away from some church members and didn't even know it because we have 2 locations, and a total of 4 different services. We have a First Friends program where when you join the church you get assigned someone that will call you, sit with you, and just get to know you so you won't feel alone. We have a KCI program, (Kingdom Citizen Institute), these are classes that all new members and newly saved folks, have to take before they can become active in ministry. You learn your spiritual gifts, about the church, about your personality, what to expect as a new Christian, or a re-born Christian, and you learn a HOST of other things. At the end of your 10 week class we have a graduation ceremony for all the ones that have completed the classes. Pastor hands out a certificate and everything, you also make life long friends. There are alot of other things that the church does to try and connect people. It's nothing worse then being in a huge church with over 8,000 people and feel alone.....
Now see that is so nice. I will suggest that to the couple who leads our married and engaged couples class. They are planning to take a trip just for the women to Orlando for a weekend (and it is the weekend before the wedding) but I won't be going. I wish we could do something like that instead!
I think I will run it by my Pastor....I know you really enjoyed that! Did you guys take any pictures?
We've been Happily Married 2 Years and Counting:)

You know what....I'm going to suggest that for the future. No we didn't take any pictures but that would have been nice. I didn't even think of that!
That is awesome. It's good to know that your church is involved in what's going on in the church. What is the name of your church?

8,000!!??!! That's more like a small country...LOL. that's amazing, but it must be wonderful to have such a healthy relationship w/the church/members when there are so many things that go so wrong in churches these days. (won't go there.) like I said I'm FWD what they've done.
I can't wait untill Sunday...no, not for church...for breakfast!

YOU FUNNY.....small country...LOL.....it's weird but the church does not seem that big to me anymore....I should say it's only 8,000 members on Sunday, the rest of the week for bible study, revivals, conferences, communion service etc, it's not that many people. You know the drill, there's a core part of the church that participate in things outside of Sunday morning. When you start going more than on Sunday and becoming involved in some of the ministries and functions the church has, you get to know alot of people, so it just don't seem big like that anymore to me...
Your church seems very, very exciting and fun. It's great to have as much going on as your church do!
