This song...Boy oh boy this song...
I have a very lengthy walk until I get to the alter and I was thinking about having this play. Still contemplating, but about 80% certain.
On a perfect day
I know that I can count on you
When thats not possible
Tell me, can you weather the storm
cause I need somebody who will stand by me
Through the good times and bad times
She will always, always be right there
Chorus:
Sunny days, everybody loves them
Tell me
Can you stand the rain
Storms will come
This we know for sure
Can you stand the rain
Love unconditional
Im not asking this of you
Weve got to make it last
Ill do whatever needs to be done
cause I need somebody who will stand by me
Through the good times and bad times
She will always, always be right there
Chorus:
Can you stand the rain (4 times)
No pressure, no pressure from me baby
cause I want you
And I need you
And I love you
Will you be there for me
Can you stand the rain (6 times)

I LOVE that song. Do you have someone that can play it? I mean really play it, not just mimick it. Girl don't have nobody mess my song up.
"I'm a work in progress, God is not through me yet"
You just took me back! Will you have someone singing it?
Who sings this song?
New Edition - post Bobby Brown - with Johnny Gill
Girl I would hate for it to rain on your day but if it does and you walk the aisle to this song....it won't be a dry eye in there.
"I'm a work in progress, God is not through me yet"
HA! I knew there was some NE fans up in here...gotta love them. I just utube'd the video and am really feeling it. I have this one dude who swears he can blow...I'll have to see, because Ralph hits some crazy high notes.
Although, I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this song, I wouldn't come down the aisle to it. It just don't seem, what's the word I'm looking for? Romantic? It's a "let's get ready to get our love making on" type of song. That's just my opinion. But, if this is a song that you want to use this, then do your thang girl!!! :-)
Not to mention Johnnie G at the end hitting those notes. Enough to make a sister weak in the knees.

Abeni, you are TOO silly, LOL. OK, Boston, I LOVE the song, too, but I kind of agree with Septbride that it doesn't seem *romantic* -- you know, you think of walking down the aisle to a love song, and to me, "Can You Stand the Rain" is more of a slow jam. Know what I mean? But of course, you know the motto -- your day your way. So if you're feeling it, I say play that slow jam, girl. LOL. It is a beautiful song regardless.

Or a brother (if you believe the rumors)!
I say romance is what you make it. It's not a one size fits all type of thing. If the song conveys what it is you and FH feel, then its the perfect song for you. Your wedding is about the two of you and should reflect who you are as a couple. If you are not a mushy mushy couple, don't pick a mushy mushy song.
"I'm a work in progress, God is not through me yet"
That's exactly why we told her if she likes it, then that's what it should be!
Well Pam and all, Maybe not mushy, but I must say that FH & I are a just a lil' touch of ghetto...LOL!
I have been thinking it over, and listening to the song over & over. I think this will be it.
One of my girlfriend is honest to God coming down the isle to that Destiy's Child song - Cater 2 U. Oh well, what can I do?!?
Abeni-and I thought you were too young to remember that? Bad taste in fashion crosses all generations I see LOL...
Boston, I thought Abeni was too young to remember Cross Color or N.E., too! Really, though, if you're feeling your song, I say you should go with it. Will your singer be accompanied by instruments, or will there be the CD playing in background? Oh, and on Cater 2 U, I just can't think about that song w/out thinking back to the famous Destiny's Child lap dance from the BET Awards a couple of years back!

I think that's why we relate so well...LOL. I told you we could hang out girl!

I know I'm late but I LOVE THIS SONG!!!! I was considering this as a first/last dance song. I got the chance to see New Edition (minus Bobby Brown. Michael Bivins wasn't there either- Ricky Bell said that he had a death in the family) at a casino in California on Aug 4. These brothas put on a great show! I look great and they still sound good. When they sang this song, I thought about incorporating it into my wedding.
If they have a show in your area, check them out. You won't be disappointed.
Born Blessed!
