Centerpiece Question - Mini Cakes

I have gotten so many great ideas from you ladies -- I need more help!!

I am using mini cakes as centerpieces and I think I have exhausted all possibilities in my search for cheap, but not cheap-looking cake pedestals (8" round, 4"tall). Any suggestions on what I can sit the cakes on? Nice, cheap, decorative boxes?? I also want to incorporate candles around the cakes.

Have you checked arts and craft stores like Michaels, Joanns, and Hobby Lobby?

Defintely check the craft stores in your area. Or if you have a great dollar store in your area. I know you said not cheap looking but some dollar stores are the bomb when it comes to things like that. Or how about this: Try a square or round vase(heavy enough to hold a plate) place a decorative plate on top and your cake. Put water and marbles(clear or your choice of colors) in the vase and then place tealight candles around the centerpiece.

Mrsmoose is right. You'll be surprised by what you can find at the "Dollar Tree".

I'm doing this at my reception, too. My caterer is renting crystal cake stands and cake knives and servers. You should check with some wedding rental suppliers or catering suppliers and see what they have. I bet you can rent some really nice ones and still come out paying less money than if you went out and tried to purchase a bunch of inexpensive ones.

Great ideas!

The lady that's baking my cakes had offered to lend me 12 vases and build a board to sit the cakes on -- I think a decorative cake will be best. Thank you, I just hope none of my drunk relatives knocks it over.
