Hi Ladies, my wonderful fiance has come up with a suggestion and I wanted to know if any of you laides are planning to do this or know of someone who has. He asked me to look into booking "The Spirit of New York" which is a boat that circles the island of Manhattan to have the ceremony on. I'm happy that he wants to have an input, bless his heart, but I'd rather get married in a physical building. Has anyone planned a similar ceremony?

Hi DaughterRhonda. I know someone that had their wedding & ceremony on a ship (Cornucopia Princess out of Perth Amboy, NJ - BEAUTIFUL SHIP). And although it wasn't a problem for me, it was for some other guests. Some people got sea sick. She did tell me that some guests didn't attend the wedding because of their fear of being on the water. But, this is what she really wanted, so she took the loss of guests not being there.
Thanks for responding SeptBride. That is a major concern for me. When I mentioned it to my mom, she was upset because she afraid of the water and the last time she ventured out and got enough nerve to go on a boat she got sea sick. I don't want to bust my fiance's bubble, because I've been wanting him to participate in the planning and now that he is, I don't want to seem like I don't appreciate his input.

I know what you mean - FH getting involved. Just tell him that you did some thinking about it and although it is a FABULOUS idea, you don't think it'll work for some of the guests and tell him why. YOu definately don't want your mom to get sick. Tell him to give you some other ideas. Maybe you can have your ceremony on a pier or something with the Hudson (or another one) in the background. I'm on the other side of the river (in NJ) so I don't know any places that I can suggest in NY.
Thanks SeptBride. You are right, I'll mention my concerns to my FH. I am open to suggestions in NJ also. I will be relocating to NJ(my FH is already there)in March, so I am open to all of the wonderful suggestions that NJ has to offer as well.

When is your wedding? You said that you're willing to have it in NJ, but what parts of NJ. I have soooo many places I can let you know about. Also, what is your price range per person? Any info you can give will help.
My wedding is in 11/06. My price range is not more than $30 per person. We are moving to Jersey City, so anywhere near there is fine. I am not familiar with New Jersey and my FH is originally from the Bronx also, so any help you could provide is most appreciated.

Okay, one last question. Around how many people do you plan on invititng. Now, I can start my research for you. :-)
80 people, I was expecting about 100 guests, but I know that when I mention the boat thang, some will respectfully decline. SeptBride, I appreciate your help. Thanks.
