Change of Date

Hey ladies,

Well my FH has just dropped the bombshell that he wants to push our date back six months. I am so frustrated because I have already got flowers, my hair appointment, booked a site, on top of telling our friends and family that we were going to get married in October. He said that we needed to change it so that we will be out of debt (that never happens) and we should be settled into our new house (we will finally be moving into our rental property the beginning of June). I have to change my color scheme from Navy and Burnt Orange to Navy and Yellow with White accents.

I forgot to ask for your help with our colors. I felt that I had a good grasp of what I wanted and now that our colors have changed, I don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FMT, don't trip. I had to push my date back 6 months after FH's mom died and he was devastated. So you're thinking April, now? Maybe you can just lighten the orange to a peach? If you like it, that would be unique and seasonal.

Re: Change of Date

Listen little sister, it is not such a bad thing to push the date back for six months. All of your vendors will work with you if you get on the ball within the week as they tend to get booked rather quickly. Just be sure to tell him that under no circumstances will you be pushing back the wedding further.

I myself am conidering pushing back or dates to a year because as a wedding Planner/Coordinator, I have 78 weddings booked so far and no time to plan my own wedding whatsoever. What I'm doing now for my 2009 bookings is to only accept 2 weddings a month beginning June of 2009. That way, I could have just as much time to plan my own wedding with the same attetion to details as I give to my clients. What makes it worse is that I travel. There is no where that I won't go to plan and coordinate a wedding because word of mouth is the hardcore of my business. Needless to say FH is so very upset by this turn of events. I just tell him that honey, I've booked those weddings prior to our own engagements. I can't let them down. Girl, my house was hot all week long.

Oh, Did I mention that FH had me sign a contract? Yes,girl!!! He said that it's to prevent me from pushing our wedding further because he knows that my word is my bond.

Honey you do not have to change the colors of your wedding if you dont want to. I am getting married in July and my colors are Latte, champagne, Ivory, with gold accents. All which are fall colors, but on July 18th will be turned into summer colors. I love neutral colors and that is what I wanted to have for my wedding.

Re: Change of Date

Yeah why are you changing colors? There is no need to if you don't really want to...But if you want to those colors are nice too...I would even combine all the colors to include yellow, navy, orange, and the white!

As far as pushing the date up I think that its unfortunate for him to just "decide" for you and push the date up, but since he is not willing to get married that day then what can you do? Also, your venue would not mind changing the dates, and it gets you more time to make the wedding better and more FAB!....However, I definitely beleive you should get that counseling for the two of you together.....I just believe that is very important.....

We've been Happily Married 2 Years and Counting:)

Future, I agree with the other ladies, there is no need to change your colors. In any event, I wish you all the best with your new date. Keep us posted.

Re: Change of Date

Yes, I know Mrs 080908 and I do make the time for me. The problem is that all those weddings are not in the same state and I don' want to be exhausted on my wedding day either by stretching myself too thin. I do spend more time in the air then I currently spend at home, but when I'm home, I'm home you understand.

In as much as I couldn't give half of myself to a client, I can'tshort change myself either. It's my wedding and I'm a Wedding Planner/Coordinator. What better form of advertising would that be for my business, that already seems to be growing a bit too fast right now? If I don't make my wedding spectacular, you know that tongues are going to waggle. I want my wedding to wow everyone, as thse that I plan for my clients live my phone ringing off the hook.

FH and I reached a compromised though, instead of pushing it back a year, we're only pushing it back 6 months and having the wedding on April 24th instead. I'm still moving ahead with my wedding plans, but with a wedding that's currently 90% DIY ~ trust me, I need the extra time. My FH is my blessing from above. He's also my personal accountant so, financially, he keeps me on my toes as well (hahaha).

Time is running short for you as well. How are you doing? What's left for you to do?

Re: Change of Date

I don't know about the colors. I am up in the air. He said that he wasn't a big fan of navy and Burnt Orange but likes the Navy and Yellow so I guess we are gonna change it. He wants us to now have our wedding in the backyard of our house, but I am not to sure of it since April is usually a rainy month. Could you guys still give me some ideas about the colors of Navy and Yellow. We are still going to counseling and we are trying to find a church that is closer to our home. I don't know too much else but will keep you all informed of any changes.

I'm with Diva T on this one sister. And I've planned plenty of backyard receptions that was absolutely spectacular. I say that if you have the size to accomodate a dance floor and tables, then why not have the reception in your backyard. You can tent the backyard, add lighting, oh this could be so very romantic.

I LOVE your FH. That is love. He is so cute making you sign a contract.

future_mrs_taylor: Sounds like you FH is tired of hearing about the details. This is a common response men have when they get a peek at all the expenses involved in your wedding. I would say "Honey, the date is set and we will save so much more by getting married at this time than the busy busy winter months. Besides I can't wait to be Mrs. Taylor." Get something slinky and put it on him that night. You won't hear word one about postponing the wedding. lol

Love the pictures of the flowers. After seeing those pictures, I would mix the orange flowers (already purchased) with the yellow and work with it.

Well ladies,

We are going to keep some of the orange flowers for my bouquet and then we are going to add some yellow as well as some white/cream colored flowers too. We are going to keep his suit navy as well as the groomsmen and ring bearer. The bridesmaids and flower girls will have yellow dresses.
