Firstly, I am as of last saturday officially engaged because my FH and I went to visit my parents last weekend and he asked my dads permission, lol. Second, we had intended on doing a Saturday morning brunch wedding with a jazz theme on 8/9/08 but after talking with my parents we are considering doing the wedding on 8/7/08 which is the date of my parents anniversary. It would definately be cute, but with changing the date we would change the reception to a sit down dinner. My issue is I only wanted to do the jazz theme with brunch, now I'm themeless, lol. So I'm not quite sure what to do at this point. I like the monogram concept but I want to do something else as well. any ideas

I think the Jazz theme will still work great. I think it fits very well for a sit-down evening reception. By the way, I think it is really cute that you may share your parent
Will the reception be at the same venue? What are some of your hobbies? Favorite flower maybe? Are you a super diva (maybe a "bling" theme)?
Our wedding theme has evolved as the planning has progressed. We started with calla lillies. Then moved to callas and black magic roses. Added in a monogram. Now its a circle theme (never-ending). The circle has calla lily embellishments and our silhouette. This is also used as a border for our monogram. I will upload a pic when its completed to my liking!
I think whatever you plan to do will still be nice...I also vote for the jazz theme...it has a touch of class to it! :)
(Chanting) Jazz theme, jazz theme, jazz theme......................
I agree...jazz theme!
Each One Teach One!
Perfect day. That is my daughter's birthday. So your wedding will be held on a thursday now. I still think the jazz theme was nice.

I'm with them! Jazz theme.
is that Friday a holiday?
Its not a holiday but I checked with my bridal party and those that are coming to WV from Philly will be able to take off that Friday, most of my guests will be from WV or will be family that will enjoy the long weekend to see everybody. Besides with the size of my guestlist I could stand for a few people not to make it, lol

I see that's happening with me, I am loving monograms, I also like cherry blossoms, pearls etc. Who knows what it will be next week. My FH is like you are changing your mind every stinkin day

That's the good thing about having a nice amount of time to plan. I'll be doing my save-the-dates by the end of this month so I guess it'll be set in stone then!
I still like the jazz theme also. I'm thinking of the episode of the Cosby Show when they had the "best dressed" competition between Cliff and Claire and went out to the jazz club.
So I've decided to keep with the jazz theme (probably) but I'm gonna include monograms because I just love them. I want the wedding to have a classy, sexy vibe to it. I've changed the bridesmaids dresses because its not in the day time anymore and I've slightly changed the colors. The dress is the link below (ya'll know I don't know how to post pictures) They are gonna be black with a pink sorbet ribbon. The men are wearing black tuxes with silver vests (I don't do the men in pink thing) and then I'm gonna use green accents throughout the wedding. Oh and the MOH dress is gonna be pink with a black ribbon.

I like those dressess! my party is also getting their dresses from Alfred Angelo. My colors are clover, pistachio & silver and I am going to have the girls in pistachio and I am letting them each choose their own style; maybe one of them will pick this style! :)
Cute dress. All of my BM are picking their own gown also. This is on their list of choices!
BTW, here's IvyPrincess' BM dress:

Hi,
Again, congrats on your engagement. Have you two considered a candlelight reception? Your wedding is only 2 days ahead of mine and I was thinking that having big candlelabras on the tables, with the lights dimmed a little to create a more romantic mood. I know that you had your heart set on the jazz theme, but what about "Timeless Romance". You also mentioned that this was also your parents' anniversary. Maybe a more romantic theme would do.
Good luck and God bless you
I like the candlelight idea alot. My mind is still swimming at this point.
I had gone from a brunch reception, to a sit down dinner, to a dessert reception, back to a sit down dinner. After researching some venues I've found that it is not as expensive as I was thinking at first and I'm trying to cut the reception down to 250 hopefully.
I'm sure it will all come togther, lol I can't wait for that point.

I am also having a candlelight reception, using vases with silk flower petals and tea-light candles. The lights in the reception hall will be dim. The reception will begin at 6, and in March in Pennsylvania, it will be pretty dark outside, so I'm expecting an atmosphere of romance and elegance! I don't really have a theme however, just kind of planning as I go! We are having an "adult only" reception as well, so there "shouldn't" be any children running around the hall.
