Choosing invitations-aaahhh!

Okay so I went to Michael's today (my favorite craft store) to look in the wedding section and found all these invitation and save the date cards and program kits where all you have to do is put them through the printer and use like Word or something...this is cheaper of I think....is anyone going this route?
Is anyone ordering from an invitation company like JeanM or American Wedding Catalogue or whatever....I went to JeanM website: I think its www.myjeanm.com....and my favorite invitation was almost 900.00 for 200! That doesn't even include the respone cards/envelopes for the reception and some designs you have to pay an extra 60.00 bucks because it comes with a designer envelope that has color! All I can say is daaaagggg!

Re: Choosing invitations-aaahhh!

It is much cheaper to buy the invitations & print them yourself. It's more work on your part but if it's going to save you a couple hundred, why not. I'm sure there are a few ladies on here that are printing them from home. I'm going with an online invitation company (but then I'm using seal-n-sends) and 100 invitations cost $92.

I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

What company is this and what is their website? I don't mind the work...because my invites are going to be as simple as possible. I found some wax and a wax stamp also with my FH's last name inital, so that should set it off nicely. Enough silver wax and the stamper for 200 invites will cost me about 20 bucks...so thats nice...

If I am not mistaken Cinny and I are using the same company. I will also be ordering seal-n-sends and they have the invitation and response cards included and it is under $100.00 for 100 invitations.

i would personally go the way of creating your own. More work yes, but less money & you KNOW they will turn out the way you want them to. Any alterations you wish to make you simply do right there on your computer. You can find fancy envelopes for cheap on ebay just make sure they are the right size. Also, my girl jonique has some really incredible photo invitations. Send her a note and ask her about her "do it ya doggone self" experience.

Re: Choosing invitations-aaahhh!

After months and months deciding on cards from all the beautiful magazines I also decided to go to Micheals and almart to check out Invitations and they are cheap as heck. I was looking at 40 and 50 pack kits for less than $30.Which comes with invitations, response and envelopes for both. It is a heck of a lot cheaper and easier for me. I can use the extra money for something else!

I have also decided to do my own invitations. I found mine at Target 100 for $50 and this includes the response cards. A sister loves a bargain. I will probably start printing them soon, even though I have 10 months to go. This will be already out of the way.

Re: Choosing invitations-aaahhh!

My wedding coordinator is making my invites and they are gorgeous! For envelopes, card stock, RSVP envelopes and vellum all it cost was $142. You can order a sample of an invite you like from the company so you can have something to go by. Here's the design of the invitation(mine will be ecru with gold ink . I will be using and notice how much money I'm saving She ordered the supplies from LCI Paper

Re: Choosing invitations-aaahhh!

Trust me it's well worth it to either DIY or find someone else who can. My wedding planner is very good at what she does and I really promote her business. She not only does invites, but she does, flowers(bouquets, etc) and can plan and decorate your wedding and reception for you very reasonably. If you are interested I will definitely give you or anyone else her information. She could even send you some of her work. If I had my camera and knew how to post pictures properly I'd post my flowers and invitation.

Sorry dear, it looks like you got lost in the excitement of this post. welcome to the family. make your map cards separate from your guest response cards. Lie and tell these people that their responses need to be in a month before the date they are actually due - you know people wait til the last minute to do stuff. I hope this helps you out. Good luck and congrats in your wedding.

I am making my invitations from scratch -- I just designed them, and am ordering paper from some places online that sell nice paper and envelopes, printing them out and taking them to Kinko's to be cut down and assembling the bad boys myself.

I love Michael's too -- their Inviting Ideas section is wonderful!

Have a great day!

I am really feeling the message in a bottle invitations since the only detail of my wedding i KNOW FOR CERTAIN is that it is going to be by the ocean. I am having difficulties finding the bottles though. i estimated they should be about 500ml - 750 ml clear glass bottles w/ corks. anything smaller than 500ml the paper won't fit.

I did my own but not for cost but for the way I wanted them to look. I had very exotic looking invitations. If you are interested in seeing them, let me know.

I created my invitations my self. My FH wrote the inside wording. I only spent $60.00 for 100.00 invitations and responds cards. You can do it they give you test sheets. You just keep testing until it looks right to you
