Hello ladies, as most of you know I had to recently change my reception venue. God was faithful and blessed us with another reception site, that is equally as affordable. The first site was a museum and we had intended to have the ceremony and reception at the same place. However since this is a restaurant, I didn't want to do that. I am now looking for a church to have our ceremony. The restaurant is in Newark NJ and I would like to find a church close by the reception site. I have a little over four months to find something and I was hoping to find something near by. Marshine gave me a church (thanks darling!!!), but I have been unable to reach them by telephone (I will keep trying). I am trusting God to open up a door for us, but if you ladies have some suggestions for the Newark, NJ area I would greatly appreciate it.

I don't have any churches in mind in the NJ area but I was wondering since your initial location was a museum, wwould you be willing to have the ceremony anywhere other than a church...it might help broaden your possibilities.

Rhonda I wish I could help you. I thought I had it bad becasue I still dont know where I'm having my wedding but I have five more months than you. Your wedding is so close. I pray that you find a ceramont location soon, and one that you love at that.

Yes I am willing to have the ceremony in a place other than a church. I do however want it to be close to the reception site because everyone doesn't drive and I don't want attending my wedding/reception to be a hardship on anyone.

AllieS at this point I am trusting in God on this one. Time is winding up and I don't know what to do. But I do know that God is faithful and he will provide ceremony sites for both of us!

Ladies, Ladies, Ladies, God is soooooooooooooo good! The church that Marshine referred me to has my date available. The good thing about it is walking distance from my reception site. I spoke to the Pastor's executive assistant and she was soooo nice! I have to take her a deposit and then they can secure the date for me! I am sooo happy. I intend to get there over the next 2 days! Thank you Lord!!!!!!!!!!!! Marshine you are so wonderful! Thanks for everything.

I know, I'm really tempted to go wake my mom up and talk to her now but its only 6:37 here so I guess I will let her rest. I will be talking to her sometime today so I will lwt you guys know how things go tomorrow.....

Just last week the reception site that was my 1st choice came open for my date and I will be cancelling my other site and going there. God worked it out for me in his timing. Back in January when I went they had no banquet rooms or halls available and now the very room I wanted is mine! Wow, I feel a praise coming on!

Well ladies, I put my deposit down and walked away with my contract, a wonderful book (I left it at home so I can't quote the title/author to be used during our counseling sessions) and an appointment for marraiage counseling. I am so excited. The lady to whom I spoke with was very friendly and helpful. I am so grateful. Thank you God! Thank you Marshine, God always supplies what we need when we need it!

Thank you Charly - lol! It has all worked out. I actually got the church that Marshine referred me to. It is about 7 blocks from the reception site. A huge burden has been lifted. What a blessing!

I asked my mom if she thinks it would be ok if I had it there and she said no. She said I had to be a member or they would charge me an arm and a leg to rent the place. I was kind of downbecasue of it thats why I havent been on in a few days. I guess I can still ask my grandma since she close to the pastor maybe something will work out. You guys pray for me please. I really need a church. I have been looking at chapels in my area but its just not the same. I want THAT church!

Allies I am a witness to what God can do! The church that I just booked charged me a fee also. They charge their members a fee too. It's ok, it is what I wanted so I paid for it. If your Mom's church charges you, if it is something that you don't mind paying then go for it. It is YOUR wedding, be encouraged you can have what you want, God worked it out for me, and I will pray that He opens doors for you as well!

Hey Allies I wanted to add here as well that my fee includes the minister's fee, a wedding coordinator, the organist fee, the rehearsal, the technical person's fee and a soloist if I needed it but I don't, my daughter will be singing. It also includes marriage counseling. Paying the fee was actually worth it, when I look at everything that will be covered.

Thanks for the encouragement Rhonda. I have been praying hard for this church. I have to make an appointment to go down there to talk to them. The earliest I can do it is mid next month but while I wait I am getting down all my questions, a list of possible do and donts and decoration ideas just in case it comes up. I do get to see a wedding setting there this weekend. One of the members are getting married and my mom is doing 2 solos for them. Since I want my wedding there my mom is taking me with her but right after the ceramony I have to go to work (60 miles away where I live). I will be sure to keep you ladies updated.
Wonderful Allies! It is good to jot down any questions you may have. The church I went to gave me a nice little printed booklet on what is expected of me, the Church, decoration ideas, do's & don'ts, a sample program, as well as a little planner in the back. I didn't expect all of that, but God worked it out for me. It is such a blessing because this Church's staff will be helping me out to ensure that things will run smoothly -- that is priceless!
