Color Theme..HELP!!

Ladies,
I've read most of the posts & this ViBride crew seems 2 b on point. There4, I am opening up the floor 4 suggestions. We've chosen our date, chosen the place, & I even put my downpayment on my dress last week. However, I have no color themes in mind. HELP!!! It's an outdoor, evening, garden wedding that I would like to keep to a black tie affair (I know, so snobby'ish but you only do this once...hopefully). FH is insisting on some blue'ish/silver crap, but I'm not sure if I'm feeing that. I happen to like the color families of: burgundys/reds, peach/orange (I know, it's not halloween), & my favorite color purple. However, the venue only has chair covers in gold, burgundy, & white. What colors can I match to that? I REFUSE to pay them additional money to have them special order colors. 300 guests is alot to pay additional for only have things match.
I really could use your suggestions ladies. The floor's open as of.... NOW!!!

HI AND CONGRATULATIONS!
BURGUNDY AND WHITE W/AN UNDERLYING GOLD IS BEAUTIFUL. I SAY GO WITH WHAT U KNOW. YOUR VENUE ALREADY HAS THAT COLOR SCHEME FLOW WITH IT. I'VE SEEN IT AND IT WAS JUST GORGEOUS. THE COLORS WERE BURGUNDY, GOLD AND IVORY. IT IS ALSO VERY ELEGANT.

I say keep the Burgundy and white with splash of gold in it. It will be nice for a black tie event.

MrsRobinson,
I think he picked blue because he doesn't want colors that are too girly...this is fair...my FH did the same...we compromised when we changed it to something more elegant...so whenI showed him the Tiffany Box, he went with it.....He felt the tiffany blue was not too feminine, but not so manly like blue.....So he needs to see your colors in action:

I would check out theknot.com and look at their galleries....they have examples of weddings in different colors....go to the "red weddings" and you will see some shots of the red family....it helped me decide on what family I wanted and gives you a outside looking in-view.....I will provide the links to you based on your desired colors but if you look right above the thumbnails on the right you can scroll down to many color details as well as stationary, flowers, cakes, etc....have fun, and let us know what you guys decide on....Happy Planning:)

Red Details

Orange Details

Purple Details

One more thing:
You can always mix strong colors: You like purple, he likes blue....there is no reason why ya'll can't do both! You will see that some couples have done this beautifully!
Also, burgundy, purple, and a teal or blue would also work together nicely.....you can either accent with either gold or silver...doesn't matter....
A new trend I found in Martha Stewarts Weddings Magazine and then online at theknot.com:
1. RED + Blue (cranberry or burgundy + teal)-Silver OR Gold accent will work here.....

2. Peach + Burgundy (Gold accent) (also popular: Bright Orange and Hot Fuschia)

3. Red/Burgundy and Green (Not christmasy...but a soft sage or light green...)(accent with gold)

4. Peach and Sage (Gold Accent)....The sage and white/ivory thing is overdone, so you can spruce it up with the peach/orange!

5. Teal, Ivory with a hint of Fuschia.....girl and guy colors (silver is better here though!)

I think when you guys start looking at the options, you will find a happy medium:)

Good luck girl.

Mrs Robinson,

My colors are burgundy & ivory/cream. I am thinking about adding a little burnt orange to the color. When you see all the colors together it looks very rich. Fh didn't think he'd like them until he saw it together in a bouquet. I say put some color schemes together for FH so he can see things put together.

Re: Color Theme..HELP!!

You ladies are truly awesome!!! I have so many colors in mind now, it's almost confusing. We're both now in agreement on Slate Blue (looks more platinum w/blue undertones), Burgundy, Ivory, & a splash of Gold. Thanks to all for some wonderful brainstorms. Now, how to match all of this will be the next task. :-)
