cut or keep???

I have shoulder length hair and because I constantly wear ponytails/frenchbraids/bun/frenchroll (in the military) its broken off short at the nape and sides. I don't mind starting over if necessary, does that mean its damaged & unhealthy?

Sistah I'm not going to say cut all your hair off, but sounds like yhou need to put some moisture back into your hair. Shea butter products will help. But pop over to a stylist get the deep ends trimmed off, get a deep conditioner, and take it from there

Re: cut or keep???

Sistah I assume you are asking this to consider how it may affect your look on your wedding day....well think about this, 1. how far your wedding is from now and 2. how fast your hair grows. I agree with Moe....pop over to your friendly stylist and get some much needed treatment, trim the ends and wear your hair OUT for a while.

Re: cut or keep???

Sista, I agree with the others.I wouldn't recommend cutting it right off the bat. Like they said, try going to a professional. She should be able to condition and trim it (not whack it all off!).Lol! However, I understand about the military not letting wear your hair below the collar while in uniform. But when you're not in uniform, wear it loose so that it can breath. Also, try ApHOGEE brand treatment. That can be found at Sally's and most other beauty supplies. That should minimize your breakage.God Bless!

Re: cut or keep???

I have used ApHOGEE Treatment for Damaged Hair
. It worked on me like a charm. I had my hair pinned up all the time too. My hair was too thivk to be let down. I looked CRAZY! use the ApHOGEE Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer
, too. It beats any other hot oil product I have tried. Oh and get a Deep Conditioner for Dry, Treated Hair
. THis rocks on relaxed or naturally dry hair. Mine is the Sahara and them frizzes up at the slighted hint of moisture. I live in this stuff.

Re: cut or keep???

Thank you ladies soo much. The stylist recommended Matrix so I bought the set they had at the shop. She said she wouldn't cut it so she trimmed it and said Matrix has a good moisture level. I'll give it a try but now what to do with all my other products??? I have everything from TCB, So smooth & At One (which I love the detangler)

Re: cut or keep???

Not only use them but be consistant with ur usage. We often think that one dose works...no it doesn't and it will not happen over night so pay special attention to your hair especially with a wedding coming up....It is your beauty remember!

I am so glad to hear your progress, what ever decision you make about the style, consult your stylist first...often times when we get tired and fustrated, we just take a scissors to deal with the problem, don't!...Think wedding, smile and breathe. :-)

Re: cut or keep???

I told my hubby I was going natural, that fool asked me did that mean I was gonna stop shaving under my arms. He is bugged out that I want to cut all my hair off. He's seen it short, but not my nappy roots.

Re: cut or keep???

My FH went crazy too when I told him I was no longer perming my hair and that I would be wearing it natural -- he was in total shock. He stood there staring in space -- I hugged him to bring him back to reality and told him it would be ok. It's been about a year now and he's ok with it.

Re: cut or keep???

Ya'll are as funny as I am. FFHBSB (formerfuturehubbybutstillboyfriend) says he doesnt care either way. But my cousin's husband is trippin (she had hers cut off and went natural because of breakage) like its a sin or something. I told him he needed to realize that she never had long hair- having kids did that for her. He left it alone then.

Re: cut or keep???

FFH????? LOL I can't keep up with this board's slang! My hubby kept trying to get me to cut mine OFF and start from scratch. I coomplain so much about it! I just had almost 10 inches come off. I went to hair dresser and said HELLLLLPPPPPP MEEEEEEEE. She interpreted that to mean "Oh she wants all her hair off." Mercy.

Re: cut or keep???

I'm a short cut kinda girl so I made that up. He's no longer my future husband (for the moment) so former future husband but still boyfriend was accurate I thought.

Re: cut or keep???

What's with these men and their obsession with hair...do you think it a "finger thing"...so surprising thou, my ex-husband always liked me with short hair, one time I was in the beauty salon and he told my girl to cut it off, she was so shocked cus she says most men like their women with hair.....go figure! I guess to each his own ah!

Re: cut or keep???

I'm still trying to figure it out. I just left my cousin's house and he was messing with my ponytail saying that my hair is shorter than usual- yeah its called getting the ends trimmed- he comes back with a ends whacked off. Now if I go buy some he'll have something to say about that too.

You know what....men will be men and the fact that we are marrying them says we agree to be submissive so if your man wants you to leave your hair....please leave it, whatever he wants..:-P

Re: cut or keep???

How ironic. We sat and talked and he agreed that I could go as short as I want and now I cant find the style that I liked the most and I just threw away the print out I had. I decided to go extra short to transistion to natural.
