So I found some invitations at Michaels...they have a silver metallic trim with a silver bow...you get 50 of those with 50 envelopes and 50 reply cards and envelopes for 29.99!
I also found some program cards (bi-fold and tri-fold) but one idea I had is to use the microsoft program template for a brochure and just buy some heavy cardstock.....anyone else DIY-ing their program and menu cards or other stationary? Is anyone even using menu cards and program cards?

I'm actually going to Micheals or Walmart for my cards.I say some great ones at both places that I like and they are very inexpensive.I was looking at the white card with silver trim and the silver double hearts. I keep seeing those everywhere so I may change my mind about that. Whatever I decide on I will also get the maching programs too. This way I can print them at home and add red villum over the top of the invites to match my wedding colors. As far as menue cards I dont know yet.I dont even have a menue as of no.I personally think its a waste of time because most of the people will throw them away.
I am having my invitations printed by www.AnnsWedding.com. (The response cards are included with my invitations. I'm purchasing seal-n-sends). I am however, doing my own programs. I bought 100 blank programs from www.weddingexpressions.com for something like $9.95. The chuch I'm getting married at provided a template and I will be running them through the computer myself. I will be using Navy blue ink on the inside of the program because that is one of my wedding colors.

We have no choice but to DIY it....we are spending a little more on the ceremony/reception to be in the same place-price for convenience, so everything else has to be very scaled back, but still elegant enough....We should spend no more than about 150.00 for the invites and reply cards and the extra ink....compared to one of the big companies, who charge 500+ for the exact same design we're doing (I checked too-the highest was 735.00 + tax!)
I am still looking into other options though before we buy....The price I found above is for the decorated paper with ribbons, but we may make it even more simple....I'm still searching-and cutting my list!

Remember your wedding invitation is not only a keepsake, but it gives the first impression of what your wedding will be like. So it should reflect the theme of your wedding or at the very least the wedding colors when you plan on doing it yourself.
I never think this is where you should save. We just went to a wedding on saturday and the bride had FOUR favors per guset and they were imprinted too. Her invites were from office max and the ink ran on ours before we even opened the envelope. We had to call to find out what time it actually was.
Spend your money wisely. Sometimes you end up spending more.

Ms Rosetta, I want your pink lily background on my invite. How can I come up on that pic?

It's a small jpg and would be pixelated if you were to print it out. You could try scanning a postcard pic or even get a magazine about exotic flowers to use. The quality of the photos would nbe print worthy. Nothing worse than a bad picture on your invitation!
What is your wedding theme, FML?

i have decided to go with a tropical sunset theme. Colors are sort of monochromatic pink/fuschia, deep purple and a butter cream to neutralize those strong colors. I was inspired by that picture of the sunset I posted and these are the colors I fell most in love with.
Inspired by the Sunset
Monochromatic Pink Colors:
Fuschia/Purple Flower
Wedding Bouquet
I am going to be stealing this tablescape:

thank you dawling, thank you. My first color scheme was the same as yours red & white. But then all of my married cousins had red and white also so I needed something different. Charley gave me the idea of the sunset. I love me some Charley. So I went out and found a picture that took my breath away and looked most like what the sun setting over mission beach looks like to me.

Hey ladies, I got my invites frm Walmart. 50 invites w/responses included on sale for $15. And yes I did the hearts in silver in white but that is the theme of my wedding. I love hearts. What i did was add my own special touches by includung a sheer red ribbon around the middle. My programs match but have a sheer red ribbon as well. Actually looks beautiful. At 1st i thought it wld be too much but the sheeress of the ribbon made all the difference. I am also doing a reception table with very large wine glasses trimmed in white fur. I am going to have people put their good wishes on red double hearts that I made and drop them in the glasses when they enter or exit whichever they prefer. Sometimes u can take the same thing that has been done and make it yours. Future Ms. Lee, girl those pictures are fierce!!!

TAJMOM I think you got the invites my FH liked. Do they have the slver "double" hearts on the front? I saw those at Walmart and Micheals and since my theme is Hearts and Roses (I think) I just may be getting those as well. If I do I will be adding red vellum to the top and a ribbon to attatch. My friend had a simular style invite and did hers like that and I love them. Her colors were pink, silver and white...
I LOVe your wedding colors FML! They are so passionate. I like when things are bold and unusual. It will be a gorgeous wedding. I noticed the sandals wedding pic. I just love that floral desighber. He is the NUTS! Simple, but definately stuffed with island charm!
I MISS Charley! But I know it can get tiresome and sad with the girls getting married and moving on. You girls who are planning years in advance don't feel left out. The longer you are here the more we need you.

Ms Lee, you can do an invite with the lily as a logo (vs initials) if you decide not to do the background with the flower....keep us updated on how the invite selection goes....

I have almost finish making my invites,27 more to go to be exact.I D.I.Y.A lot of people are not keen on D.I.Y invites, but I tried and have succeeded.FH says they look really good (if they looked horrible,he would have said).I took them to work last night and my colleagues are in love with them. They are simple but nice. They are white with a pearl border. The writing is the vivadi style font in bright green, and I stuck a kiwi(BM colours)ribbon in the shape of a bow in the top centre. The bow and ink are the same colour. The bow has long ends, and this has done the trick they look simply elegant.
Where did you get your ideas, Nikki? I love the sound of what you've done. I can't find the invites i want so I think i'll make them myself. 20 months to do 150 invitations... I'm pretty sure i can handle that timeline. So did you hit up our favorite jailbird, Martha, or what?

I ordered several samples, well actually only three but I saw alot on the internet and just got ideas from all of them.I found that alot of the ready done invites were quite dull looking and very expensive, and the ones that I liked FH didn't like.He wanted to be unique,so thats how we came up with the idea, and he thought we could do them ourselves.....Did I mentioned I ended up printing them and gluing them 2gether and puting them in the envelope without his help.He put the names on and that took him a whole Saturday.I simply left it to him. After all I can't do everything.lol.I am happy to say that I will be sending them out this week at least to the guest that have to fly in.The locals will get theirs in 2 wks time.So goodluck to you.
P.s. I got the stationery from Michaels when I went to NY last April.Their were half price too $17 for a box of 50 invites, envelopes, repose cards & envelopes. The ribbon cost 5p a meter over here.Great isn't it.If you go this route make sure you ave lots of sample sheets before you actually print on the invite card, and do them individually.I stood like a hawk at the printer cause they can snatch the card faster than a speeding bullet sometimes.lol.Everything goes pear shaped then, but when they are finished you will be will chuffed with yourself.
