DIY or Professional

How many of you will be doing your own make-up or having a make-up artist come to you? I have been asking around to see how much a make-up artist would cost.

Think about the pics! Have a professional do it. The photos will last several lifetimes and who wants to have streaky runny faces forever??

On my sister, her concealer showed up in every picture, but you could not see it with the naked eye! Imagine if you looked like that in every shot?

I never wore make-up a day in my life, so trying to do it myself will be a diseaster. I am going to have my make-up done professionally. I was thinking about either having a representative from mac or marykay.

That is the same idea I have, but I don't know a rep from MaryKay or Mac. How much will it cost to have them come to the house?

She is a rep. The thirty dollars included the trial make-up , lunch, and wedding day make-up. I dont think thirty dollars is alot.

$30 AND you get a lunch??? Jump on it. Mary Kay make up is so soft it will look like you aren't even wearing any if you want. You will just look flawless!

Re: DIY or Professional

Yes, I also have a Mary Kay rep and what I did was have all the girls come over, since a lot of them do nt wear makeup, wear the color of the dresses, since color means everything, and she came over and gave complimentary facials, consultations etc. Then if you wanted to order whatever you cld, no obligation. She will also come over the day of and do the makeup for free. This way with the b4 hand meeting, everyone was already comfortable w/one another. It is also important to make sure everyone looks like themselves just enhanced. I just viewed pictures of a bride who had her makeup done. OMG she looked better w/out!!!!! It was so overdone until she didn't even look like the same person. Onyxswan you will be happy to know I did not say a word. For once I kept my mouth closed!:)

My aunt had a Mary Kay rep come and show us how to do our make up the week before when i was a bridesmaid 4 years ago. She didn't charge for coming out to the house but we paid for the make up. I'm gonna have my cousin, who will have just graduated from make up design school, do mine.

That's if you can find someone who will do it for 30.00! These make-up artists are pro's but they are expensive. Whew! When I asked someone their fee a few years ago (just to put the make-up on) I'm thinking: DAG! For that much $$ that make-up better not smudge, run or nothing. When I wake-up the next day that make-up better still be on my face when I go swimming, make love to my new husband, cry, and all that! These people are just ridiculous sometimes!

One of my really good friends is a Chanel make up artist so I'm going to have her do my makeup. I just don't know how much is right to pay her. She said that it would a gift to me but I don't know if that's fair.

I sort of think I may want MAC though and I have a girlfriend who is fierce with hair and make-up. She does natural as well as processed hair. Which is perfect for my bridesmaids as we have mostly natural hair.

I'm having my make-up done professionally. My make-up artist's name is Lenny Hamilton he's from Newark NJ he charges $125 & he is worth EVERY penny! When I say he does a phenomenal job, I'm not exaggerating one bit.
I have pics of when he did my make-up, If I knew how to post them here I would.

Rhony, from the prices i've seen, I'd say that $125 covers the bride only.
I still don't know what i'm going to do. I already look wonderful, all I need is some mascara & lip glass to 'make me up'.

I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

Rhony, I just got off the phone with her. She said that she would do me for free and only charge my bridesmaids $25 for theirs. God is definitely Good.

Yes Rhony, that's just for me. The cost for members of the bridal party, MOH, etc. is $65.
I highly reccomend him if it's within your budget.

He did my make-up for the engagement pictures. I posted the link in the other thread.
Here's a pic of me with out the services of the legendary Lenny Hamilton. He has been on tour & worked on numerous celebs. I've had my make-up done at a MAC counter before, but never as good as him.
