engaged 2 a soldier

Hello ladies, I need help... I am newly engaged to a soldier who is currently deployed in Iraq, he proposed about 2 months ago while he was here on his 2 week vacation. See the thing is I miss him so much that its hard for me 2 focus on my own wedding. The date and catering hall has been reserved for july 3,2008, but its so hard for me to get in the mood to prepare anything else...I guess my question is, is there something I can do on my own for my big day to help me pass the time he is away? One of our VIbrides had the wonderful idea of making her own programs I thought that was a great idea. I would just hate to waist anymore time when I can be getting things done. Any suggestions ladies?

P.S My soldier will be home january 23,2008.

sensationablyhappy, I got you girl. Take out a big fat 3-ring binder girl and let's get you started. There is a lot you can do to have a truly spectacular wedding. Your date is July 3rd, but it will be here very soon. How is your timeline? These things should've been done already, but if they're not, get to it girl. Follow this checklist.

1. Announce our engagement
2. Set the wedding date, take into accounts holidays, school and honeymoon plans
3. Determine the religion the service will be performed in

E-mail me and I will walk you through it month by month. Oh and add your wedding ticker to your homepage. It will help me countdown along with you.

Good luck to ya!

Sweetie, althought there is absolutely nothing that will take the missing your fh thing away. There are many things that you need to do and that will keep you very busy until he gets home. Trust me the time will fly when you start preparing for your special day. And trust me it doesnt seem like there is alot of things to do but trust me it is. Brides.com has a time line of what should be done by what date. I found that quite helpful in my planning process.

Re: engaged 2 a soldier

As the daughter of an ex-soldier, I can honestly say that it's not easy dealing with a situation like this. My Dad was in the Army for 25 years. I know it must have been hard for my Mom to deal with my Dad being away from home for weeks, even months because of training exercises and deployments. The other sistas have given good advice but let me add something...

You must pray for God to give you strength and to comfort you in those times that you are feeling "lonely". There are some serious "Prayer Warriors" on this site and we will pray with you. Send me a personal message if you would like to talk more about this.

Are you a crafty person? Perhaps you can start a few Do-It-Yourself projects. Many of the sistas on this site have done some and you can get some great ideas from them. Maybe you can find a few community centers in your area that offer craft projects and cake decorating classes.

I'll keep you in my prayers. Stay strong and be encouraged!

Born Blessed!

Sensationablyhappy, while you will miss your soldier enormously, you will be kept very busy with planning your magical day. How are you doing with the list I sent you? Were you able to knock off a few?

You'll do great. Just remember to breathe whenever you feel overwhelmed.
